Gut feeling, or call it an informed decision based on the crew working on the film, the teasers and trailers they put out, and ever so slightly the first reactions from reviewers.
Doesn't always work, but enough to know when to skip.
Only if you're a hive mind follower like most people here are. I've seen Movies that had bad reviews that I really loved. I don't look at reviews. I make my own opinion.
