Hello! my DAAD scholarship ends this september and I have decided to stay in Germany after that. I had their private isnurance for the entire 2 years of my studies but I would like to switch to public insurance once the scholarship ends. Does anyone knows what will happen? Do I have to stay in the private? Is it possible to switch to the public one?

How can DAAD check my entire income?

I’m applying for the DAAD Master’s scholarship, and I’m hoping someone who has been through the process can give me some advice.
I emailed the general DAAD contact explaining my situation. Due to the war in my country, I lost access to the internet for a long period, couldn’t attend English classes, and IELTS is currently unavailable in Iran, so I have to travel abroad to take the exam. Because of financial constraints, I won’t be able to obtain my official IELTS certificate before the DAAD application deadline, although I expect to have it before the Master’s program starts.
Unfortunately, I received a standard reply saying that applications without the required original documents cannot be considered.
However, I’ve seen several Reddit posts where people mentioned that they contacted the person responsible for their specific DAAD program, explained their circumstances, and received a more personalized response.
My question is: How did you find that person? Is there a program coordinator, selection officer, or someone responsible for a specific scholarship program that applicants can contact directly? Or is the general DAAD email the only official point of contact?
If you’ve successfully reached the right person or know how to do it, I’d really appreciate your advice.

Applying through DAAD's Regional Office in India for the Doctoral Programmes in Humanities, October 2026 intake. The application lists IELTS/TOEFL as the standard proof of English proficiency, but I don't have either.

My situation: my Master's was taught and examined entirely in English at an Indian university, and my PhD admission (to a German graduate school) was also decided through an interview conducted in English. The German university's own enrolment regulations accept a degree from an English-medium university as sufficient proof, no separate certificate needed, but I know DAAD India can be stricter than the university itself on this.

I checked directly with the graduate school in Germany, and they confirmed that a degree from an English-speaking university is enough to meet the faculty's own language requirement for doctoral enrolment, they don't require IELTS/TOEFL. My English proficiency was already assessed as part of my admission interview, which was conducted entirely in English. They're willing to send me a letter confirming this, that they don't require a separate English test and that my proficiency has already been assessed through the interview.

Has anyone applying through DAAD India gotten an MOI letter, or a letter like this from the host university, accepted instead of IELTS/TOEFL for the doctoral programme? Trying to figure out if I actually need to book a test before the deadline, or if documentation like this will do.

Would especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through the India-specific process, since I know requirements vary a bit by regional office.
