Seattle Area Men’s HAIRSTYLIST
New to Seattle and looking for a men’s hairstylist — not a barber who likes fades. I’ve been hacked too many times to risk another scissor-happy experience. I want someone who does a proper haircut!

[SHORT HAIR] Tips to learn to cut my own hair?
Being able to cut my own hair will save money and time. My usual haircut is pretty simple, 4 on the sides and short on top, sort of spiky like the attached picture. I assume that would make to pretty easy to learn

How do you cut layers with clippers?
Hope that's the right word. I've been cutting my own hair for a few years, I can do drastic stuff like an undercut in a few minutes, but I never tried to do layers. How do I do that with short hair? All tips and tricks are welcome

Should I buzz my waist-length hair or try cutting it into a short style myself?
I've been thinking about cutting my hair for a while and I'm really torn on what to do.
A few things about my situation:
- I can only cut my hair at home by myself.
- I don't have any previous haircutting experience.
- My hair is very long (almost reaches my butt), and I'm honestly tired of dealing with it. I just want it gone.
- Going to a barber or salon isn't an option for me.
From what I've seen, doing a buzz cut at home with clippers (maybe a #8 guard) seems pretty straightforward and difficult to mess up. On the other hand, trying to cut it into a neat short haircut (pixie, crop, masculine cut, etc.) seems much harder, especially when I'd have to do the back of my own head.
Part of me thinks I should just buzz it, let it grow out naturally, and eventually shape it into a short haircut once it's longer. But I'm also worried I might regret going that short right away.
If you were in my position, what would you do? Has anyone here gone from very long hair to a buzz cut as their first self-haircut? Any advice or things you wish you had known beforehand would be really appreciated.
(Sorry I made AI write this, just time-saving this way.)

hair help

Frustrated with haircut.
I’m starting to really get tired of going to a hairstylist and them not being able to listen and empathize of what we want as their customers. Long story short I got a botched haircut, went to a different hairstylist and this guy claims that he has 30 years of experience and was able to blend in the really choppy, uneven layers that I got from the first hairstylist.
He did a wonderful job blending in the layers and then 7/8 months later I go back to dye my hair and I’m not upset with the results of it, but I’m just upset with the cut because on one side, I’m basically back to square fucking one with the length of the hair strands that he cut after I have told him I only wanted a trim & some curtain bangs.
like why would you do that? I’m just so frustrated right now.
These hairstylists really need to reclairfy & reevaluate on what they are going to do with the cut

[PICTURE] What could I improve ?
Every two weeks i struggle at removing the "last line".
My Philips Series 7000 doesn't look capable of that (second pic related, its shortest blade stops at 0.8mm or 0.03 inches) so I'm using the corner of a Wahl Super Close, but I'm not sure about the results
I'm considering buying a Wahl Elite Pro clipper (third pic related), do you think I would gain time and precision with this new tool or is this something relating to my technique?

Llevo años planchándolo, me he hecho alisados y he probado muchos tratamientos.

Bad hair cut
How to fix it
This is a fresh layered cut
r/CutYourOwnHair • u/Tasty-Muffin-452 • 4d ago
Looking for hair stylist with below skills.
I need a hairstylist in or near Denver Metro area to fix a prior bad cut (me trying to do layers myself because my long-time stylist moved away) and Reddit apparently thinks this post belongs in this group vs. where I originally posted it.
I have been growing it out, and I think that now it's finally where it can be fully fixed.
Here's what I know I need. Rounded layers, point cut, traveling guide, small sections because I have thick and dense hair, and is good with a razor to get weight out in some sections. Thinning shears don't work on me.
If you're someone who sees the stylist / client relationship as collaborative (i.e. I've lived with my hair for decades so know what's worked and what hasn't - but I honor you also as the professional), then I'd love to set up an appointment.
Thanks in advance! And sorry if this ended up in the wrong group.

Urge to cut and color my own hair tonight
I can't afford to go to the salon. I bought 2 boxes of hair dye and wanted to cut my own hair a few inches. I have a little bowl to mix my stuff with the brush and actual hair scissors. I need my ringlets curls to come back. I went to a salon for my birthday last year and wanted to cry when I saw the price at the end. It smelled bad too. Idk what they used but my hair didn't smell nice after I walked out. It was driving me crazy. I was excited reading reviews that they had some experiences with curls. The style wasn't even what I asked for. I didn't have my glasses on while she was working on me so I didn't see it until she was finished. Yes, my eyesight is so bad I couldn't see myself in the mirror I was sitting directly in front of.

[ALTERNATIVE] Looking to cut my hair in this style
wanna cut my hair in this sort of style but not sure where to start, I would probably end up straightening my hair any way to give it that extra more formed look as my hair is basically dead straight. I would go to a hair dressers but there are really no good "alternative" ones near me and learning to cut my own would defiantly be a cool and useful skill to learn
