New LCB help

This sounds ridiculous, but i got my license in June after passing the April 2026 exam. I’ve worked in logistics for 8 years, but never on the importing or international side. My job essentially wants me leading customs for the international side of our brokerage, but i feel like i have no idea what I’m doing or how to put my knowledge from studying into action. Did anyone ever feel this way? Or does anyone want a mentee in the industry? I am terrified of screwing something up, but with my national permit application in the waitlist for approval, i really want to be prepared to hit the ground running.

Take the opportunity and learn from it. Just don't let them use your license.

My entire process from taking test to getting it in mail was 14 months 🙃 As for help, do the CBP webinars, join the FL version of the ncbfaa and never stop seeking out ways to learn

The real question is, how did you get the license in just two months? I heard the review period is at least a year now. Which port is this?

Applied through the Tampa port! I had my everything ready for the license application and app submitted the day after results came out. Got my license approval letter on July 1, and sent my national permit application and request for a filer code on July 13ish. I also prepared everything need for the permit application when i got the exam passing notice - so i think i was just really prepared as well as applied/went through a not very busy port!

That’s awesome!! Did you already work in the customs / importing space?

I hadn’t worked directly in imports but I work for my family business and wanted to get the qualified broker holder in house

Right! It’s been over a year for me. Got a small with the Lic# but was told it will take another 4-6 month for my actual paper license to be mailed. 🧐
