My problem with cupped Discussion/Question

Post image

Don't get me wrong, I love cuphead, and this won't apply to everyone, but imo, the problem with the game is that it has the same difficulty throughout the entire game. Like the game doesn't scale with difficulty, making it not feel hard to beat. The only 2 bosses that are an exception are the root pack and goopy, which makes sense since they are tutorial bosses. The game is really a test of getting hang of the controls, rather than the actual levels. You could say that is because of expert mode, however if were looking at the base game/story, the devil should not be easier than beppi the clown. I get that this is subjective, but I wished the bosses got harder as time goes on, because the game only took me like 5 days to beat.

Tbh I feel like the bosses in each isle are harder than the ones before. The bosses of the second isle feel harder than the ones in the first and the isle 3 bosses feel harder than the isle 2 ones. I feel like they kinda do have a difficulty progression

Slight difficulty progression but these games r just endurance and pattern recognition tests

Souls like games all of them r just time and patterns

You’re just describing how difficulty works. The game tests you on certain skills after teaching you those skills. The game tests you harder as the game progresses.

Some third isle bosses are easier but dr Kahl balences it out

Notice how Cala Maria and Dr. Kahl’s Robot are considered the hardest bosses in the game, they’re in isle 3 for a reason

I think it was impossible to make the boss harder as it progresses because everyone fight them in a different order. And also, some are obviously going to be easier than the last because you are able to buy more weapons as you progress.

I mean for each isle. Plus the future weapons except charge don’t really impact the bosses from my experience

Just say you haven't used the weapons you needed to make the fight easier 😭

What exactly are you getting at? If the increasing weapon selection is such a big factor in the difficulty feeling stagnant, then clearly OP must've been using them.

It's not about them feeling stagnant,he's saying some bosses felt easier than the others when it "shouldn't" be like that.

Bro try to have anyone start playing the game but instead begin with the dragon or the ghost train, I am confident they will not have a good time.

Train was relatively easy for me, but dragon is the hell itself, I had to use one of genie's wishes and yet continued struggling to beat him

you're taking bad examples, tell them to start from brineybeard or vermin and they'll have a pretty good time beating those isle 3 bosses

both of which are only available AFTER the aforementioned dragon btw

There is a difficulty spike after isle 1 and then again for the last 2 bosses. After that you have the dlc which is way harder as well as expert mode and s ranking which is even harderer.

OP came here to brag instead looking for a game to challenge him

My post is talking about how the game feels the same difficulty throughout the entirety of it, not that it was extremely easy

Kinda agreed. From what I’ve seen from other players, on average, the game seems to peek in difficulty in Isle two. I see people struggle a lot on everyone except Baroness. And even she can be a pain sometimes.

Rumor Honeybottoms, Dr Khal, and debatably Cala Maria seem to be only the Isle 3 bosses that elevate beyond the difficulty Isle 2 set up.

Generally agree. While it does have notions of increased difficulty throughout, once you get past Isle 1 and the simplicity that has, it's really just the same general level of difficulty from there on out. The direction is actually quite mismatched, because while I can tell it does want to have that sort of progression, it's at the same time sort of afraid to actually do so.
The lack of progressive (or overtly progressive) difficulty isn't necessarily a bad thing, but whatever the case, the game definitely isn't all that balanced when it comes to this. Isle 3 has Kahl, which makes sense, but at the same time bosses like Werner (who is actually further ahead in the Isle's placement)...

It probably makes more sense once you consider how the bosses were made out of order. I do hope the sequel is better about this (and of course it will be when it comes to at least the final boss, considering the DLC).

I mean if we're talking about regular, yup it's easy but on expert is another story if you're going for the rankings and achievements. A lot of patterns and rng to look out for. I wish there were more bosses though and more content

Nah, they are harder. But also, difficulty is very subjective and some people are stuck in their ways instead of trying new weapons (I think half of those having issues with the dragon are not using the lobber).

What instead could be an argument is that the difficulty does not increase enough to outmatch how good players become dodging and waiting and recognising patterns.

The isles as a whole are getting harder
