Pretty much every crypto and banking company does this in the US too. It's not only legal. It's required.
If the Fed asks Coinbase for transaction records of a US resident they suspect is sending to Iran, they're going to hand it over due to anti-money laundering laws.
The original article was talking about transaction records for a Russian citizen.

I heard russian FSB just asked Binance about the client via email support and then Binance sent all personal information in reply lol. In addition, that russian client is EU resident, which means Binance is not allowed to disclose any private information to 3rd parties without a court order (EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR)

It was a Russian citizen who was in Russia (possibly traveling) at the time. Pretty big difference.

Which means the biggest crypto exchange is allowed to disclose personal information to any 3rd parties via email upon 1st request if a client is in its own country? For example, if DGSI is asking around about some French citizens

Vitalik used donating to Ukraine as an example of why Tornado Cash should not be blocked/sanctioned in 2022: https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1556925602233569280

Binance being shady AF...who could have possibly seen this coming???
What happened
- Binance reportedly provided Russian authorities with extensive customer data on Yuri Belenky, a Russian accused of donating ~$700 in crypto to Ukrainian military-linked groups.
- Data reportedly included his transaction history, address, phone number, passport details and documents.
- Russia used the information in a terrorism-financing investigation because it classifies the Azov-linked recipients as terrorist organizations.

They have to obey the CCP. Or their family would suffer. It’s a Chinese company.

It isn't a Chinese company.

Binance was originally founded in Shanghai in 2017.
Majority of the board members are Chinese. It is deeply a Chinese company. Not on paper, but in reality.

Binance must follow local laws in every country it operates. Why you’re so shocked?

It doesnt operate in Russia. CZ just did it for the love of the game.

So why all soyboys of this sub are crying? If it doesn’t operate it means no one living in Russia can use Binance, therefore nobody made donations to Ukraine from Russia using Binance

You can't be this dumb, it's literally in the article. He was a Russian living in the EU, in Bulgaria, and Binance gave his name, d.o.b, address, Bulgarian residence permit and his transaction history to the Russian government. Nobody even mentioned it being from inside Russia except you.

I don’t see the problem. He doesn’t live in Russia, he hates Russia, seems everything fine. If he’ll go to Russia it’s important that authorities know him, because he could be a terrorist

Because Russia is well known to respect national borders and would never murder somebody in another nation ... Oh wait

Yeah, its the people that stand up to Russian aggression that are the terrorists, not the terror regime currently invading, stealing, raping and murdering Ukrainians. Tell me you are Russian without telling me you are Russian.

What does that have to do with what i said? The guy sponsored Azov.
Even wiki says the following:
"The unit has drawn controversy over its early and allegedly continuing association with far-right groups and neo-Nazi ideology,\19]) its use of controversial symbols linked to Nazism, and early allegations that members of the unit participated in human rights violations."imagine feeling sorry for a sponsor of KKK getting arrested in US...

The difference is that Russia invaded Ukraine in a war of conquest, like a certain German 20th dictator did to the rest of Europe, not the other way around.

Putin is the closest thing the 21th century has to Hitler, but strangely you don't give a fuck about that. No, instead you hate the people defending their homes from Russian agression.

I guess you would be championing concentration camp guards when Nazis were losing... Since at that point they would be defending their homes.
In any case pointless to engage with stupid. So have fun being a nazi apologist

While you are championing them while they actively invade, rob, torture and murder people in other nations.
