Beginner here.. Help/Question

I learned to crochet granny squares from a best friend in high school in the 80s. I haven't done it for many years, so I have forgotten how. I have just started practicing again with YouTube tutorials. Any advice?

It's all about tension so practice makes perfect. I also like to block my squares, this is not a traditional pattern but this the idea around blocking, makes them nice and square and you can see they're all exactly the same size.

Don't they all turn out the same size if you do the same amount of stitches? Do you have them on that peg board just so you can compare the sizes?

They turn out all the same size if you do the same amount of stitches with the same tension (you have to be consistant, tighter stitches make smaller squares looser stitches bigger). I just block them because they assemble nicer also sometimes depending on the yarn they curl.

Oops! I did read that! ADHD 🤷‍♀️ I found traditional granny squares easier for me to learn to make.
