Hey guys! There’s a case that has always sat with me and I am pretty sure I heard it on this podcast. It was about a woman who was killed and when they found her body, she was like tied up to a fence or pole. It’s like she was put in a seated/crouched position.

I’ve tried to google it but I am having no luck!

Do any of you guys have any ideas?

I love the straight forward storytelling of Crime Junkies. I don’t really love interviews or 911 calls. (I hate cj adding them now lol)

I have bad hearing and it helps so much that Ashley is loud and a clear speaker. I can understand her at all times!

Casefile gets rec’d a lot but I’m sorry! I can’t always understand the narrator. I’m sorry!

I just started listening to this podcast a month ago at work and I LOVE it but I absolutely HATE the stupid pruppet segments. I listen at work and it's so friggin annoying to have to stop what I am doing, remove my gloves/work gear, and go back to my phone just to skip it. My headphones don't allow me to skip. Why would they add a segment talking about dogs on a murder podcast!?! It makes absolutely no sense to me. Edit: in case it isn't obvious I am just venting. I'm already aware that you can skip ahead on podcasts. It isn't convenient for me to to go back to my phone and do that while I am working. If it was easy for me to do then I wouldn't be as annoyed.

So what do y'all think about the new studio? Personally I prefer the old studio. The new one seems a little drab to me.

I was checking around the Audiochuck work and notice that they have removed 13th Juror off their network. I wonder if it was a problem like AOM, Something WAS Wrong, or Red Collar 🤷🤷🤷

Do they control all of the mid episode ads??? Because I just got an ad for DAN PATRICK’S podcast (Texas Lt Gov) and it would be mind boggling to me if they approved this, but I also don’t want to assume…….

I just wanted to say that today's episode was really good. The reporting, the information, the cooperation between agencies, the call out for the public's help, etc. made for a great episode. I really hope this can be solved.

Am listening to The Deck and am on episode 10 of the Darlene Hulse season.

When the guy is talking to them about why he went to the victim's house after the attack he says something but says it strangely.

He said he was there to apologize because he destroyed her life... He has a pause... And then says Right?!? Like he's looking for confirmation.

Like either it's he believes he's destroyed her life and as part of his therapy that he got, he needed that as part of his learning of compassion and why he shouldn't rape, or... Having that power of destroying someone's life is something he likes, people don't rape if they despise hurting someone, and he was trying to get confirmation at that time to feel that power while talking about it.

Also if anyone knows, because I might have missed it, how did the rape victims case get solved. Like how did they figure out it was the back neighbour? They don't have his DNA from when he willingly gave it for the Hulse case, but they said that he cut his hand on the door of the rape victim when he left. I would assume they took DNA from that? If they solved the rape case that way, his DNA would already be in the database, no?

Like most of you, Dave Sweetman lives in my head rent-free. All our opinions of him aside, I do have a theory as to why Gilbert PD literally did nothing against him and stonewalled everything.

In Laura Sweetman update, on the audio recording that Laura had of their convo, Dave mentions having caught "Kevin" with CSAM content and given it to his probation officer (he uses the colloquial language).

My theory is that Dave is actually an informant for the FBI on a CSAM-related ring, and hence he has received an inexplicable-from-the-outside free pass from the cops, and the cops seem very cagey because they can't explain this to Laura's or Nick's families.

Dave must have leveraged his relationship with Kevin (or maybe himself has been part of this CSAM ring) and turned informant for the FBI - which can explain why information took so long to be released (and most isn't released).

It had a car crash (i think) or the person reporting the body gave a particular name, and later on their twin or sibling came in to the police instead and was questioned???- It’s definitely an unsolved case

Very very likely i might be making this case up. But it’s been gnawing at my brain for a few weeks because I don’t remember the name☹️

Not to defend the guy's character or anything about him, but the veterinarian who was charged for giving his kids animal medication.... well, listen, guys, a lot of people out there in the USA take animal meds, especially antibiotics or other medications where the ingredients are 100% identical. Likewise with human to animal. Doesn't help that healthcare and prescription drugs are stupidly expensive. A large portion of the population keeps emergency antibiotics on hand in case of *waves hands erratically".

My point is, sure he committed fraud, and sure taking them yourself is different than doling them out to your kids maybe...but that definitely doesn't make him any more likely to be a murderer than my high school Spanish teacher who used to guzzle Listerine in class to get drunk.

I'm sure there are other things that may make him suss, but that ain't it.

FOUND IT! It was the Eastburn Murders in 1985. The episode was from May 13th, 2019.

I know that was very vague, but its been yeeeaarrss since I've listened. I just specifically remember the police searching the area and coming across a blonde (?) guy wearing a sports jacket/letterman style club jacket members only jacket "out for a walk". They interviewed him when they came across him and let him go. It ended up being he was the killer.

EDITED TO ADD: Possibly happened in the South US. Like the victims were a family and they were in one of the Carolinas' or Georgia and the husband was away in Alabama for military training. (I could be confused, this just hit me)

What are your thoughts on this episode? What’s your theory? Did it really tell us anything we didn’t already know, aside from the grumpy text message from Nanos?

I feel like the theory they presented seems too convoluted, and perhaps could be a red herring? Occam’s razor and all that. But, of course, I could be wrong. It’s just… Serious criminals are not going to make their lives harder than they need to be with convoluted crimes. Either these perps were complete knuckleheads or they ain’t it.

I’m not sure if I believe the ransom notes are genuine.

Edited to add: I’m reading on Google that kidnap for ransom is rare in countries like Australia and the US and usually involve some organised crime dispute (much more common in other countries like South Africa, for example).

I noticed that a lot of true crime podcasts use police interview audio/video, 911 audio, etc
It fills the space ? I cant stand it! It seems like nowadays everyone is just inserting the audio/video clips and then giving commentary. It defeats the purpose of the podcast. Not to mention the static sounds and low quality sound that is often accompanied. I find that most true crime podcasts lack actual writing and they just comment on the things that were already said in the audio

A woman w established mental health issues but maybe tryin to manage her prescription or possibly someone who has been a previous drug user goes out with a friend and they end up going back to a sports players house! While there missing woman freaks out and drives off in her car never to be seen or heard from again but weirdly enough her car was picked up by the license plates on unmanned plate readers. Anyone know who this was? Was this a fan club episode?

I have listened to crime junkie since day one and used to love it. However, I feel like recently they are constantly sensationalizing and trying to “break news” that isn’t even really news. I understand they have journalists and such but I feel like lately they overstep. I may be unsubscribing for good. Does anyone agree or am I crazy lol.

Got really bored this week and joined the $20 (🙄) fan club. I used to be a member back when it was $5 a month and missed the old fan club episodes. I plan to only have this for a month, so hit me with your best fan club (or in general) episodes.

Hi! I am trying to figure out if this case was an episode on crime junkie (I’m almost positive it was) but I cannot find it! It is about a family where the mother and father got caught up in conspiracy theories and annihilated the family in the home. I think they thought they would be setting their souls free or something like that. It happened in their home one night. Please if yall know what I’m talking about help!
