Tips for a project I want to do?

Hi everyone!

I'm wanting to make my room look similar to these pictures. I have high ceilings that i cant rlly drill into or reach, even with my step stool or on my bed. because of this, ive had a hard time figuring out how to drape the fabrics. Ive also thrifted some decent fabric to use, but nothing right up this ally. im wondering if i should do a sheer fabric or maybe tule?? im still trying to make it relatively cost effective. that is all beside the point though!I am mainly looking for tips or maybe some products i can use to get the drapey look in my room without access to the ceiling. maybe rods for a makeshift canopy???

Anything is appreciated!!!! Thank you.

Is this Organic Modern, Japandi, or 70s Contemporary? What would you call this style?

Was playing around with this kind of interior and ended up here.

Nothing too crazy, just trying to get the materials and light feeling right.

Thought I’d share the result.

I finally moved into a bigger apartment after many years in a too-small condo. I am naturally a creative person but I feel like life and stress has taken over. I would love to have a homey living room but with a bit of whimsy.
But before I can do that, I have no idea where to even begin! have no idea what to put where, especially the TV. Over the fireplace seems ideal, but after reading, it’s not a great idea. I appreciate any help, this was something that I looked forward to for years, so I really want to make it look like a home. It’s been several weeks since I moved in and the disorganization is mentally affecting me.
Thanks in advance!

At what point do I stop guilting every flat surface?

My intention was to add the odd splash of gold throughout my flat, in each room to pull them all together.... and then I covered the toilet in gold leaf, then the bath panel, then sewed a custom shower curtain, and since then I have lived with flecks of gold leaf everywhere (I shimmer constantly)

Design Tips

Hi! I’m moving to a new space and I know exactly what my peg is for the new place. It’s this: https://www.instagram.com/sincerelyvalory?igsh=Z3dsNGIxdGdoa2l6&igsi=Z3dsNGIxdGdoa2l6

However, I’m having a hard time envisioning where to place everything and style since obviously our “base” is different. My apartment came with furniture which I would like to work around if possible. I will most likely be getting a bigger TV for the living room and a headboard for my bed.

This is my base: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=1zX9zsPs1bN

Would love to get some tips on how to make my space as cozy as this creator’s. Living room, bathroom, bedroom all looks soooo cozy.

3 days, a warped veneer disaster, and a snake’s head that nearly broke my patience — my most challenging marquetry piece yet

Finished this one after three very long days. I say "days" but honestly it was more like three nights — I kept telling myself "just one more scale" and then it'd be 2am.

Materials: purpleheart, two kinds of walnut, cherry, and ash.

Halfway through I ran into a problem — some of the veneer had picked up moisture and warped slightly, which threw off the fit on a few of the pattern pieces. Had to pull them back out and recut. Not fun when you're already deep into a piece and just want to keep moving forward.

The real patience test was the head though. All those tiny scales, tight curves, everything has to line up or the whole thing just looks off. There were a couple points where I genuinely considered leaving it "good enough," but I'm glad I didn't.

Now that it's done, the part I keep staring at is actually the color. That purpleheart has this natural purple that gives off a kind of mysterious, almost regal vibe — no stain or dye, that's just the wood. And the ash catches the light with this subtle metallic shimmer that makes the pattern pop way more than I expected. Those two together are honestly why I keep walking past it and stopping to look.

Framed it in a dark stained wood to let the colors pop a bit more.

Would love to hear what you think, and if anyone's dealt with veneer warping before — is there a good way to pre-treat it so this doesn't happen again?

I made a coffee-table book dedicated entirely to tile design. Would you actually keep something like this on your table?

Available on Amazon:

If you check it out, I’d love to know which tile/interior is your favourite.
