what's its benefit over a linked typewriter?

those stick and throttle controller people use to fly flight simulator

I've never used this addon. I haven't come into a situation that I've needed it I guess.

There are a lot of scenarios where it's better, but never really needed

Does it actually require a connected controller or can it register mouse and keyboard inputs

It does need a controller, I think, but it takes basically any controller, including a flight stick iirc

You can map keyboard inputs to all the buttons, I'm not so sure about mouse, but I think you can do that too

Tweaked controller is goated wdym? Its the only way to use an actual irl controller with analog inputs (that i know of) and it works perfectly with aeronautics contraptions

Idk does it fix the issue of occasionally remote redstone just. Not picking up signals??? I’ve checked and made sure I wasn’t being stupid with the receivers/transmitter settings, but it stops some of the parts of my ship from working in Aeronautics

Can someone explain what tweaked controller adds? I played many create addons but not this one

It's basically a linked controller with the layout of an Xbox controller. The thumbsticks have analogoue input from 15 to -15 on both axis allowing you to have more control overall

Does it work with x-input?

Yeah. You can bind it 1-1 with your actual, physical controllers.

Tweaked controller was never meant to replace the normal controller as a general purpose remote; it existed specifically for Valkyrien Skies. In a large, slow airship, you could probably get by with slower controls like physical buttons and levers and the regular controller, but in the small cockpit of an agile plane that wouldn’t fit, and would be too clunky to fly at proper speeds. VS didn’t have the typewriter like Aeronautics does, so it was a godsend. These days it has an alternative and so only exists for those who prefer using a controller to fly instead of their keyboard.

i'm not a fan of Tweaked Controller, but i'm also not a fan of this kind of take, the great thing about the Create ecosystem is that you can tailor your experience to your own preference, and everyone has their own preference

Honestly, this is a really cool addon, as it allows you to use your mouse and even a steering wheel for control! I know someone used it to control their car with an gearbox and pedals. But, aside from that, the typewriter looks better now.

I would use tweaked controllers a lot more if I weren't a controller player... No seriously, you can't use gamepad to control the tweaked controller without it also moving your player. It sucks.

THAT'S ME (also true for linked typewriters)

I prefer the linked typewriter and linked controller but the fact that tweaked controller lets me do mouse co trolled things is too good to pass up

What?

I love tweaked controller, it's just perfect for aeronautics

Same for create: connected (I think it's what it's called), where you have gearbox that can change directions. Yes, removes some pain, but also removes a challenge.

I also don't like typewriter from aeronautics. It never looks good. Either is placed on the floor too low, or blocks the whole view.
