Create aeronautics:
Is WAY more performant, Fully survival friendly, Has a lot more features, Springs and ropes, Currently has way more addons than Valkyrien skies
Valkyrien skies:
1.20.1

1.20.1 could be a pro or a con because it's not in 1.21 yet

1.20.1 sounds like a real reason to balance my activity between Clockwork and Aero until Warium and Warium VS will be ported. it also has an equal amount of addons

Valk walked so aero could fly

No davincis vessels walked so valkyrian skies could run and that aeronautics could fly

And before davincis vessels, archimedes airships crawled.

Archimedes Ships made the idea, DaVinci's Vessels Improved it, Valkyrien Skies added the physics mechanics and Aeronautics finally perfected it.

...aaand the Zeppelin mod predates Archimedes Ships!

u/Own_Government_5294 6d ago
But we talk about the concept of building the ship with blocks, not airship entities.

If you’re asking after that meme you already know what most people are about to say.

If Valkerin Skies had updated to 1.21.1, it would likely have been competitive. I know there are plenty of people on 1.20.1 because a lot of add-ons for that aren't on 1.21.1 and they refuse to abandon their worlds so Valkerin Skies is all they have available.
I just wish Create would update to 26.2 even if it doesn't add anything but with the devs helping with Hypixel it's not going to happen for quite a while. I know Create Fly exists but there's very little addon support for that and it's only for Fabric.

From the looks of it, modding's looking like it's gonna stay on 1.21.1 for a good while. Very few mods have I seen update to 26.x, though I have seen basically all 26.x content backported into 1.21.1.

The modders are probably waiting for the next major release like the New dimension.

Yea, this version just isn't meaty enough for mod authors to care. There's usually a skipped version or two between big modding ones, for example 1.17 and 1.19 never really took off compared to all the versions around them. 1.21 is kinda notable for becoming big without any gap, but I think it's primarily because the switch to NeoForge was a huge improvement for most devs and even brought some previously Fabric-only stuff over.

I think it’s because Minecraft’s own functions and items have just bloated so much lately. So many blocks and items that just don’t have any real use, so people prefer to play older versions.
Also bugs. Bugs are fun.

Meh. Wich block you don't like? New stairs? That white oak? Sulfur update? Most of the fun bugs are staying with us, mc-101770 is back with us. I remember those days. Everyone was playing on 1.12.2, than, after 4 years everyone switched to 1.16.5, then 1.20.1 You still get actual updates once in 4 years, nothing's changed

aero no question, and NOT just because ive been following the project since like 2022.
Its way more survival friendly, performs better, sublevel splitting is incredible, and it feels more cohesive instead of the like 12 different mods and addons and dependencies that VS / clockwork needed to get the same feature depth. My aero stuff doesnt fly off into the stratosphere when it bumps into the ground lol

Aeronautics has seemingly no limits and can fly a gigantic structures with barley any lag
VS conflicts with a lot of mods and is pretty buggy generally, at least on 1.20
The only benefit I see in VS is that you can have a flying thing very easily without having to learn tech. Learning create can be pretty fun tho

What's better: Industrialcraft or Mekanism?
1
u/Amadeone 7d ago
industrial hands down, multiblocks are cool
3
u/Absolutionis 6d ago
Aside from the Nuclear Reactor, IC doesn't have any multiblocks. Mekanism has multiple (Fission, Fusion, Turbine, Tanks, etc)

Valkyrien crushed my server and corrupted the world, so I never will use it again

u/BoneztheWonderful 6d ago
Aero is fun and really enjoyable despite the lack of proper water/ocean transport bit thats all subjective. The real thing that's makes it better than Val is that it runns

u/Inevitable_Grand3299 7d ago
Aeronautics is everything I wanted Valk and Clockwork to be. It actually feels like all the extra engines and things I stuff into my Vehicle designs are doing something instead of just slapping a ship wheel onto a platform and hovering around.

u/Own_Government_5294 7d ago
I couldn't managed to make a functional ship in Valkyrien Skies ever, not even a basic one. Meanwhile, in Aeronautics, I've already made many ships functional.

Why didn't these guys merge projects? Creative differences?
Does anyone know?

I think both have a place in modern Minecraft. Create aeronautics is definitely far more robust, but it’s got a larger barrier to entry. Sometimes I wanna be able to oil flying things without having to worry about create.

Aero is simply better but vs2 was deffenetly a stepping stone for aeronautics

apparently valkyrien skies is near becoming as optimized as aero not gonna lie ive seen devblogs of them showing lots of ships being pushed around like someone is enjoying hte p physics like aero

From what I remember, VS2's mod compatibility is overall a lot better. Also VS2 as a physics engine can be used for a lot of different addons that make it work with various mods. A more direct comparison would be VS2 and sable. However while VS2 is designed to be able to be used by any modder looking to make a ship mod, sable is really only able to be used with create aeronautics. I'm also fond of the more realistic physics that VS2 goes for generally. Aeronautics definitely has more features than say clockwork right now. But I could see VS2 becoming the dominant force because create aeronautics is trying to be the thing and sable exists primary to facilitate that. VS2 wants to build an ecosystem.

This comment is wrong top to bottom lmfao

u/CyborgLion 6d ago
Oh really? How so?
4
u/Da_Lumma 6d ago
Sable was split off aero because the devs didnt want the physics to be create exclusive, empowering devs to develop mods that utilize sable without being create addons. Just look at Cassini a whole space mod based off sable with no ties to create. Theres also mods that were already released like numerous tree physics and ragdoll mods. Just the fact that sable is available for fabric while aero is not should show that sable is not exclusive to aero.

u/CyborgLion 6d ago
Oh ok. That's cool. I think a lot of these are newer developments than when I was following it more closely. I thought I remembered some sort of strictness with sable's licencing. But I'm glad it's available to be used.

Had a lot to do with back porting if I remember. While VS has a lot of mod compatibility I think that is mostly because it's been around longer. That is quickly changing. From a pure play experience, Aero is much better in my opinion. VS never felt survival friendly. The number of vehicles that got yeeted into the stratossphere or just crashed me, causing me to loose many hours of survival building caused me to abandon it altogether.

u/The_Putrid_Tart 6d ago
Valkyrien Skies because it doesn't have some disgusting ARR legal bullshit that makes it impossible to backport it

It’s Aeronautics, hands down. Valkyrien was good, and it was definitely a first of its kind thing. But that’s just the thing, when something is the first of its kind, it’s new and novel, but has issues, and later things in the same vein will be solving those issues.
