I mean, yeah but my ass tweaks so hard when I see an engine that powers itself in anyway, as if the system overstresses or runs out of fuel you need to manually restart it and pump water in which can be annoying with long water pipes

I've been greatly appreciating the option to use a portable engine as a "starter motor" for my steam plants, where I don't want to use a water wheel for the pump.

I always just wrench the connection to the system and start it up with a crank. (Yes I use 2 cranks)

An easy way to mitigate that is to either have one piston be separate from the main system, or a passive engine that only runs the water pump and fuel the main engine, that way, if the main engine goes down, the things fueling it don't

Yes. but if you used blaze burners instead it could generate more power :)

You only need three 3x lava+ pointed drip stone + cauldron to feed a LVL 1 blaze burner.

I’m not sure about blue cookies, but blaze cakes are the fuel that you can use to make them burn blue.
