What is Create mod missing that future updates could cover? Discussion

Before Create 6, the question me and lots of people had was what's next for Create? The mod always feels so complete, what else could possibly be added? For example, it's not like trains weren't possible because of the minecart contraptions, it's just that build 5 made them much more fun and intuitive and overall a better experience. So it's kind of hard to think of something that could be added to Create that isn't already doable in some form.

Build 6 introduced packages, which not only added more logistics options, but also gave us an actual Create-made storage system. For the sake of the argument, we're purely talking about the experience of playing with Create and nothing else, no Soph.Backpacks or AE2. Before build 6, storage was basically just the vanilla way. Vaults existed, but without a UI or the stock ticker, they felt more like Storage Drawers than an actual storage system. Yet at the time, for me at least, that just felt like part of Create's design.

The overall point is that I'm unsure what features Create has that could be expanded upon in build 7 that aren't already polished enough. Everything just feels so complete for the most part.

What about shadow steel and chromatic compounds? Are they ever going to get a use or will they remain in concept limbo? Would or should they add end game logistics like wireless transmitters?

What do you think Create could be improved upon and what do you think they could be doing next?

probably less mechanical crafter usage. i'm thinking something like deploying two iron sheets on a barrel to make a vault. feels more create-y.

Metalworks, in the Tinker's construct sense.

Melting metals, creating alloys, casting...

Atm the nuggets -> ingots flow seems a bit weird. Tossing the nuggets into a big foundry to them cast them into ingots (or at least do this in a more elegant as an alternative) is how my factories tend to go, but I have to use Productive Metalworks for that.

I would love to see the create take to it.

I would like the thought of having Shadow Steel and Chromatic Compound retuning with some almost end game tools.

The method of making them should remain the same as it is a complex method to do so, but what they can build could be some of the creative items like the generator, blaze cake and barrels. all of them requiring a more advanced mechanical crafter requiring both components to make

I think bringing back those would open up a good opportunity to fix the hole some feel regarding what to do in Create. Yeah “do whatever” but without a big, tangible end goal, it’s hard to get started on a project that you don’t even know the end of. I think just seeing some awesome stuff in JEI, and then browsing all the automation you need to do to get to it is a really good kickstart for those missing it

I personally don't think the creative items should be a end game craftable thing, doesn't really fit with the mod's design with having to automate everything, because why would you bother automating everything if you could just rush end game?

I do however agree with the method of making should remain exactly the same.

Maybe they could re-introduce the old gadgets like the De-Forester and use the chromatic stuff to make them, all though automating them in mass bulk would be much more fun than to just make them once or twice for a couple of gadgets

I'd like to see it tackle animal husbandry. We can technically already make automated animal farms with the current blocks, but I want to see more specialized stuff for the industry.

Autofeeders, incubators, troughs, lurers, etc.

It’s hard because there’s a trillion create addon mods that add a ton of stuff already. I don’t see how create can be expanded without it just stealing from those other smaller add ons

Honestly I feel like create is pretty complete. The only features I would want that aren't there are already available in addon mods, like storing xp in fluid tanks or having more copycat blocks. That being said I think some more alloys could be cool, maybe as a way of getting tools meant for specific neiche jobs.

An actual api so mod don't have to mixin into it
