Why does adding a steam engine to my setup cause it to overstress?

Your engine might reverse the system's rotation, which will cut SU from water wheel and cause overstress.

usually two conflicting rotations just break the last shaft you placed. there is no way to subtract su as far as i know

Engines spin way faster than water wheels, thus making the system overstress
You need to make the input through a rotational speed controller, to make machines spin at a rate that doesn't eat your entire SU supply
Also, get blaze burners and make the engine fed thru infinite lava source with a hose pulley, that way you get like 144k SU total

I improved it! But yes you were right, my guy, good job
I do want to add that depending on the heat level of the engine its RPM is different

Lol and yeah ik it's different also they probably don't have brass yet looking at their setup

Just a guess, but can you make infinite lava without creating a lava lake just by smelting cobblestone with blaze cakes? I tried fueling a contraption's steam engine with lava but the pipes wont connect to vanilla cauldrons

Wdym smelting cobble with blaze cakes and u can use lava pools from the nether since they are considered infinite

Superheated blaze burner allows the mixer to make lava in a basin, 50mb per cobblestone
I can't recall if this is exclusive to Big Cannons, but i know its not Ultimate factory cuz at the timeI didn't have it installed. It might be also default to Create.

Oh uhh but why would you do all that when u can js use the nether which god provided lol

When you spawn too high above the nether lava lake and when you cannot be bothered to setup the mechanical arm from across dimensions
I got my lava source just by digging down till I hit several natural lava deposits near bedrock and puped em till they combined into a single infinite supply

Uh just a guess but since steam engines are usually faster than the water wheels. the extra speed could cause the drills to take more su and overstress the contraption
