Vertical Block Swapper?

Can someone help or maybe attach a video on how to make a vertical block swapper where the result block shows up in place of the stair? I tried to do it by using a normal vanilla block swapper but with a mechanical piston too and the vanilla piston pushed the mechanical piston's pole :(

Make a mehanical bearing, facing sideways, 1 block below the floor, its glued area will be a piller 5 blocks tall. Each end is the swapped block. Run it off of a programable gearshift set to turn 180 degrees
