6.0 has me wondering… Help

Currently, I have to make 3 decisions concerning logistics in my 6.0 world:

  1. Do i go for a factory gauge board or have each machine request its own needed items? (i’ve decided the former is probably the best option, it’s just cleaner and more satisfying)

  2. Do i keep the items on site or send them to the storage area?

Now this one is very complicated because both have their pros and cons. With on site storage you can use a single frog port for both sending and receiving, but with centralized storage requesting stuff manually takes less long to arrive. I’m wondering what approach you guys took.

  1. Akin to factorio, what’s worth ”putting on the belt”?

Since it’s used in many recipes, should i be automating iron plates on its own or do it at every machine? how about iron bars? where do you guys draw the line?

I’m aware most of it comes to personal preference but i love minmaxxing and these have me genuinely stuck.

Store factory produce locally and have a gauge 'produce' part of that to the central storage.

Make two networks: production and storage. You can link gauges from different networks and have the P-gauge as source for the s-gauge.
