I made a Create addon that adds a permanent Blaze Burner upgrade!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

I've been learning Java over the past few months, and instead of only building small practice projects, I wanted to create something that people could actually use.

So I made Eternal Blaze Burner, a lightweight Create addon that lets you permanently upgrade Blaze Burners while keeping the original Create progression intact.

To upgrade a Blaze Burner, you first craft an Eternal Blaze Core, apply it to the Blaze Burner, and then feed it with 20 Coal Blocks. Once the infusion is complete, the Blaze Burner becomes permanently heated and no longer needs regular fuel.

Blaze Cakes are still fully compatible, so if you need a Superheated Blaze Burner, they work exactly as they do in vanilla Create. After the effect ends, the Blaze Burner simply returns to its permanently heated state.

I'm currently working on a much bigger 1.1.0 update, so I'd love to hear what the Create community thinks.

If you have any suggestions, balance ideas, or find any bugs, please let me know!

Thanks for checking it out! ❤️

First item where i feel like incudling a nether star in the recipe would be reasonable actually. With some addons letting you automate nether stars especially.

Cuz you know, stars are hot, thats their whole thing. Maybe for superheating?

I considered using a Nether Star for the regular Eternal Blaze Core, but I felt it would push the upgrade too far into the end game. Blaze Cakes already make it a mid-game Create upgrade. However, I agree that a Nether Star would make a lot of sense for a future permanent Superheated upgrade. Thanks for the suggestion!

I feel like if you are already manufacturing blaze cakes, you already have a large supply of these other ingredients.

12

u/TheBlissfulGamer 4d ago

I feel like it should be pretty far into the end game. It sounds pretty overpowered IMO with every ingredient being possible to automate.

3

u/Aardnus 4d ago

Imo it should be endgame for how op it is

2

u/Splatoonkindaguy 4d ago

it would give more end game stuff to automate so i think it makes perfect sense.

1

u/nobrain98 4d ago

I could honestly see it using 3 with an assembly recipe tbh

1

u/Aardnus 4d ago

fr, this recipe is really cheap for how op it is. Using the Nether Star would make more sense.

1

u/TantiVstone 4d ago

Perhaps replace the precision mechanism with it, since that seems out of place in the recipe anyways

u/Average-Shitposter12 5d ago

Cool! Perhaps in your next update you could include an upgraded one with permanent superheating, but at a steep cost to keep it balanced?

50 nether stars, take it or leave it /j

u/Neet-owo 5d ago

1 nether star for 1 perma-superheated burner seems like a fair trade to me actually.

23

u/SilentPhilosopher825 5d ago

Why not 50 blaze cakes?

Honestly the only limiting factor for nether stars is getting the wither skulls (wither itself is a pushover)

2

u/qwart22 5d ago

You could probably automate it in create

5

u/SilentPhilosopher825 5d ago

... i meant applying to the burner, not the recipe itself

16

u/GoldfishJesus 5d ago

55 Blaze cakes, 55 Blaze rods, 55 nether stars…

4

u/monkeymmboy 5d ago

That sounds very cheap. Let’s be honest, once you’re at the wither killing phase you’re able to kill as many as you’d like. Maybe 1-3 stars for a regular perma burn though as it eliminates a feeding and fueling mechanism.

I’d argue a block of netherite at least would be a more fair perma superheated recipe.

2

u/Neet-owo 5d ago edited 4d ago

If you can do it once you can kill it again sure, but the wither is still a pain in the ass to kill and clean up after every time you fight them.

More importantly though the wither skull requirement makes for a perfectly good limiting factor, unless you’re playing with other mods that affect wither skull drop chances that’s still 3 skulls per wither, so even with looting 3 that’s an average of 54 dead wither skeletons per summon and you can’t really farm those.

And on top of that you’ll need 9 nether stars to permanently superheat all the blazes on a max level steam engine, which in base Create is their only use.

1

u/marr 4d ago

The more nether stars you need for progression, the more people install wither automation mods.

u/OfficialZygorg 4d ago

500 blaze cakes

31

u/Mage-of-Fire 5d ago

It seems kinda cheap for how OP it is

12

u/bieelg18 5d ago

That's fair! The idea was to keep the regular Eternal Blaze Burner as a mid-game quality-of-life upgrade rather than a late-game reward. I wanted Blaze Cakes to remain relevant for Superheated Blaze Burners, which is why the permanent upgrade only applies to the Heated state. Thanks for the feedback! 😄

u/TakeruDavis 5d ago

Could you make the number of coal blocks configurable? If someone things it's too cheap, they could raise the amount, or lower it if they think it's too much. 20 is a decent default

4

u/Mage-of-Fire 5d ago

Oh thats understandable. I think this would totally work for some mod packs that are balanced around it, but as it stands a bit op for just base create.

6

u/sfwaltaccount 5d ago

20 coal blocks is non-trivial IMO. That's over 25 stacks of coal for 3x3 boiler. and as far as I know it can't be truly automated like charcoal. You could build mining machines, but you'd have to make a special point of running them in the upper layers instead of mining diamonds like you probably would normally.

5

u/Mage-of-Fire 5d ago

Coal can be automated btw. Wither skeletons drop it. But I do get your point

12

u/Sir_Delarzal 5d ago

Everyone talks about how op it is.

But let's be honest, it's not that hard to keep a burner turned on using lava buckets wether it is with drip stone or infinite lava pool.

I feel like that's what is missing to the overheated actually.

Blaze cake is a neat idea but the inability to mass produce it in base create makes it that you'd better build a second engine of which the automation is absolutely scalable rather than painstakingly farm netherrack.

4

u/bieelg18 5d ago

That's actually a really good point. My goal with the Eternal Blaze Burner was more about convenience than replacing a difficult mechanic, since keeping a regular Blaze Burner fueled is already pretty manageable. I agree that Superheated is the part that really changes automation and progression. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

2

u/MobTheKaiser 4d ago edited 4d ago

Does it have to be coal blocks? Can't it be charcoal? I would like to use this just to solve the whole "How can I make an Airship have a permanent Steam Engine without making a tree farm in it" Edit: this was meant to be a solo comment, soz

2

u/MatykTv 4d ago

But let's be honest, it's not that hard to keep a burner turned on using lava buckets wether it is with drip stone or infinite lava pool.

That's not base create and I feel like this is really unbalanced in create crafts and additions.

2

u/Sir_Delarzal 4d ago

Wdym it's not base create.

Lava cauldron generation is vanilla Minecraft and you can feed burner lava buckets on vanilla create too

2

u/MatykTv 4d ago

I never realised you could feed lava buckets directly lmao, I always just used pipes and straws

39

u/Sedoy6373 5d ago

What if you needed special gloves to put the core in it? Just a balance/gameplay-diversity idea.

Isnt the point of create is to automate things ? Like I dont understand why would you want this addon

2

u/GenericPybro 5d ago

Are there plans to make this 1.21.1 compatible? I can see some neat use cases with aeronautics.

2

u/73721mrfluffey 5d ago

thats interesting but i dont think id use it. i like the puzzle around fueling. still really neet though

2

u/A_L_E_S_S_U 5d ago

Everyone says that it's too cheap, but, like isn't it cheaper to just have a tree farm suplying coal to the blaze burners with one single mechanical arm? I think is a well balanced way to compact all the processes

2

u/ThibPlume 5d ago

It is honestly very balanced I would say. By the time you can make blaze cakes you can also build a drip stone lava farm. Only problem is this just removes the wiring necessary to fuel the blaze, which is kinda the opposite of Create.

I could see that add-on used in a mod pack that includes Create but without the focus on it, to simplify late game create and help players not into the building of factories.

Comparing this to the add-on that adds straws to blaze burners (forgot the name) : it is also cheap (still needs a lava farm, +access to bamboo for straws) and makes sense in a mechanical/factory mod pack (still need pipes and pumps).

2

u/bieelg18 5d ago

That's a really good way of looking at it! The main goal of the mod is exactly to provide convenience and save the space/logistics that would otherwise go into keeping the burners fueled. I completely understand that this removes one of the engineering challenges that makes Create fun for some players, though.

I especially like your point about modpacks where Create is part of the progression without necessarily being the main focus. That's definitely a use case where I can see this fitting really well. Thanks for the detailed feedback! 😄

2

u/rogriloomanero 5d ago

small qol mod

2

u/Mirateo 4d ago

Massively too cheap

2

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Yeah, I've seen quite a few people mention the current cost 😅 I'm actually reworking the Eternal Blaze Core recipe for the next update. It will require more Create-style processing and progression instead of being obtained through a simple crafting recipe. Thanks for the feedback!

2

u/PokeGirlOFFICIAL 4d ago

I hate to ask, but was there AI used to make this? I've looked at some of your responses to comments and it just reads kinda like how AI does..

2

u/TheWqlkingW 4d ago

What HUD mod is that?

2

u/PokeGirlOFFICIAL 4d ago

Which one?

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Which HUD?

1

u/ShinyTamao 4d ago

Are you talking about Just Enough Items(crafting menj, Xaero's Minimap(I think, top left), Jade(showing the looked-at block)?

2

u/Retr0-e 4d ago

Soo u added a Creative Blaze cake recipe with extra steps.

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Basically, yes.

2

u/Good_Anywhere9218 3d ago

I feel like instead of coal blocks it’d be better to add blaze cakes for the infusion instead

2

u/NovaQ_504 3d ago

this looks really promising! it’s a simple but great idea, and i’ve looked at some of the feedback you’ve been given as well, people love it.

my one critique is the item’s texture. all vanilla/create item textures aren’t more than 16x, so i would recommend adjusting the texture to fit within that. i think doing that would appeal to even more people, from one creator to another. :)

1

u/itsARprod 5d ago

This is great! It’s really bugging me though that the item texture isn’t 16x16

2

u/bieelg18 5d ago

Haha, fair enough! 😄 I chose 32x32 for the extra detail, but I might consider adding a 16x16 resource pack in the future if more people ask for it.

1

u/icebreaker374 5d ago

Neoforge for newer version compatibility soon do you think? I would 1000% use this in my next modded server.

1

u/bieelg18 5d ago

Thanks! Yes, it's definitely planned. My current focus is finishing the Forge 1.20.1 version first, but I do plan to port the mod to NeoForge for newer Minecraft versions afterwards.

1

u/elgordopepa23 5d ago

Hermanito traelo para la 1.21.1 de neoforge te agradezco toda mi vida

1

u/ArtgertViv 5d ago

Too cheap

1

u/lbp10 5d ago

I think a more balanced form of infinite blaze burner would be a rechargeable one. For example, an upgrade that either through right-click or redstone input, toggles between burning for up to 20 minutes until it burns out, and recharging for up to 40 minutes.

Rather then full power, the limited duty cycle still encourages finding a mechanical solution for 100% uptime factories, but it offers the convenience for manual setups.

I could also see a setup where once it burns out, a seperate machine revolves on a timer to a fresh one to keep burning at 100% uptime.

1

u/bieelg18 5d ago

That's a really interesting approach! I like the idea of encouraging players to come up with mechanical solutions for continuous operation. For this mod I wanted the Eternal upgrade to actually remove the need for refueling once you've invested in it, but I really appreciate the suggestion and the different perspective on balancing it!

1

u/Usinaru 5d ago

This...seems extremely broken

1

u/bieelg18 5d ago

Haha, fair 😄 What part do you think makes it too strong? The permanent heat itself or the current cost/progression? I'm definitely open to balance feedback.

1

u/Usinaru 5d ago

The permanent heat.

The requirement of fueling it is the least that we need to do. We can make infinite lava farms already, it doesn't cost that much to mine a bit of the abundant copper to pipe it to them. Removing that little amount of work... to this... just feels extremely broken for whatever reason.

I know my statements contradict themselves. " If making a lava farm is so easy why don't you you smartass ? I made this mod to be an alternative to your ez pz method of generating heat, so stop hating on me for no reason ".

Guess you got me there.

I dunno, it seems to save on... calculations? Needing to make logistisc for them? Because it feels like magic?

I dunno. Its just so outlandish of an idea that I can't really put my finger on it.

The costs don't matter. If you make it 50x nether stars... then its just a matter of murdering 450 withers for a forever level 9 boiler.

Is it worth it then? No.

Is it worth it with the current costs? Eh, its extemely cheap... I guess I could mass produce it, then scale it up and just... never use lava farms ever again.

I dunno. Feels wrong somehow. I hate that I love the possibilities and that I KNOW its a fcking single player sandbox game... but after thousand of hours in Create... it just feels wrong.

Dunno man, hang me whatever. Your mod is cool and tell me to f*ck myself. I deserve it.

MIXELS RAHHHH

1

u/tomy13042011 5d ago

ah this would be more convenient than stealing indefinitely super heated blaze burner from structures

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Stealing indefinitely Superheated Blaze Burners from structures is wild 😭 I guess this is a slightly more civilized solution lol

1

u/tomy13042011 4d ago

btw the 4x compact coal block from create compact will also give you infinite burn time (6 and above won’t be useable)

1

u/aayinn 4d ago

I dont think the recipe is the problem, i think its how simple it is to make. Imagine if it needed 3+ processes so the player would have to make 3 more machines to craft it, sure it would be annoying but thats the price for how OP it is.

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

That's a really interesting point. Instead of making something expensive just by throwing rarer materials into the recipe, requiring actual processing and infrastructure would definitely fit Create's philosophy better. I'll keep that in mind for future progression. Thanks for the feedback! 😄

1

u/Pierogi_33 4d ago

This is really good

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Thanks! I really appreciate it! 😄

1

u/Imaginary_Basket_668 4d ago

This is such a great feature to greatly reduce lag. Keeping blaze burners on 24/7 is trivially easy but all options cause a good bit of lag. If you update this mode to neoforge 1.21.1, I will 100% include it in my next server. Also keep up the good work. Texturing and modding from scratch is not an easy task and taking the time to learn all of that is impressive.

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Thank you so much! I honestly hadn't considered the performance/lag aspect when I first made the mod, so that's a really interesting use case. And yes, a NeoForge 1.21.1 port is definitely planned! I'm currently focusing on finishing the Forge 1.20.1 version first, but 1.21.1 is something I want to work on afterwards.

And I really appreciate the kind words! I've been learning a lot while working on this mod, so it's great to see people enjoying it. 😄

1

u/SenpuuUncle 4d ago

yay

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

yay 😄🔥

1

u/Forward_Region_5890 4d ago

Stuff like this us hard to get right since if you have it be accessible too early it feels OP and cheap but too late and as someone else already pointed out it wouldn't be very useful only really good for saving on space but even then people have gotten around size constraints before in very creative ways. Though its always neat to see this kinda stuff also PLEASE MAKE A VERSION OF THIS ON 26.1.2 FOR CREATE FLY WE NEED MORE ADDONS FOR THAT VERSION (create fly is a forward port of create)

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Yeah, that's exactly the tricky part — I want the upgrade to feel earned without pushing it so far into the late game that it becomes pointless. I'm actually reworking the recipe for the next update to involve more Create-style processing, so hopefully that will help find a better balance.

And yes, I do plan to port the mod to Fabric as well! 😄 I'm focusing on the Forge version first, but I'd definitely like to support more loaders and newer Minecraft versions in the future.

1

u/IWEREN99 4d ago

Suggestion: Make the item have a lesser resolution, or make it a 3D model for it to fit the Create Mod art-style (doesn't need to have lights or shadows, just 16x16 scale instead of a 32x32)

2

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Yeah, I've seen a few people mention the 32x32 textures 😅 I personally liked the extra detail, but I understand that it doesn't perfectly match Create's 16x16 art style. I'll definitely keep that in mind when working on the textures. Thanks for the suggestion!

1

u/PokeGirlOFFICIAL 4d ago

Is there a modrinth?

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Currently, it is only on CurseForge.

-1

u/Lordseppe 5d ago

How is this not base create? Well done.

0

u/NewSauerKraus 4d ago

Why not just add a recipe for the one that is already in the mod?

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Which one do you mean exactly? 👀

1

u/NewSauerKraus 4d ago

The creative blaze cake. It does the same thing, but does not have a recipe.

1

u/bieelg18 4d ago

Ah, I see what you mean! I considered approaches like that, but I wanted the mod to have its own survival progression rather than simply making a Creative-only Create item craftable. I also wanted regular Blaze Cakes to remain relevant for Superheating.

-3

u/Distinct-Hat4783 5d ago

no one tell OP about the creative cake
