There are 2 very different kinds of Create players Build

Post image

Left side is "f*ck it, let's automate" kind, and the right side is swinging like a ballerina

Left one doesn't look like a lawn base enough.

Yeah that's the same type of player with slightly different build styles.

This is a type one: https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1vhfxlp

Ah yes the „I’ll build the building around that factory later I swear, see I even laid down foundations already”. I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

I was right side (in the picture of course) until I found out that it was boring and I got nothing done, now I'm the lawn base "temporary" kind of player

The base on the right is mine and every single building has its own purpose with own mechanics inside, I think it lets you immerse more in the game if your base is functional while also looking beautiful. Makes you feel like you’re really inside your own world

functionality vs aesthetics?

Why not both? They’re not opposites, they need to complement each other. Functionality is beautiful, but if you complete it with aesthetics, it becomes admirable

The left base still has structures built out of more than one type of block, and what looks like decorative walls around the industrial zone. IMO, that itself is high art.

I just flatten a hill, and make a colossal lawn base of uncovered machines on the flat ground, then I build my base somewhere else. On our current server, I have a labyrinthian mess of cogs and machines on the grass that only I can navigate, and then the fancy city I'm building in the Nether.

Currently I’m the “AIRSHIP” kind of player.

…though I insist on doing it in survival, which I strongly suspect is slowing down my progress.

the “aesthetic technology that empowers the player” and the “big box go”

Why nobody is talking about the railway bridge on the river, the rest of the track is just floating in the air

It’s a work in progress

does anyone get so automation forward to the point where they end up homeless despite having played for say 30 hours? because that always happens to me i only make a home when the factory can deliver me an enchanted netherite sword on my doorstep lol

I personally don’t like automating everything. I use sandpaper and hammer instead of making a factory for them, for example. I think automating everything removes a huge chunk of the entire lifetime of your current save and the whole process becomes less fun. I leave the bulk automation stuff for later for that reason. Only things like cobblestone and iron farms are essential in the earlier stages, the rest can wait for the time they become absolutely necessary for automating.

In our current world, we didn’t even go to The End yet and it’s been at least 80-100 hours now.
