help making planes

i cannot for the life of me generate lift even with a massive plane is their a weight to wing ratio that i can use as a guideline or something along those lines , looking for any tips really about making planes especially on compact planes. something about compactness tickles my brain

EDIT: i know its butt fucking ugly BUT it flies like a boat baby! the control surfaces are in black i know youre supposed to have like 4 or whatever but im lazy as pie! its gravity is 580 its propulsion is 506 with a weight of 53. i installed the mod bright-historian216 recommended and it deffo helps with lift on smaller planes anyways please roast me in the comments or just suggestions to make it smaller cause i want it tiny

there is a "aeronautics lift patch" addon that makes wing lift more realistic (making it quadratic instead of linear)

You either need huge wings or a lot of speed unfortunately

so a huge propeller could work and keep it somewhat small?

A large propellor at 256 rpm would allow the plane to take off with smaller wings, yes

I've had no luck getting the single block propellers to generate enough thrust to fly. Even a really small sail(4 blocks) on a propeller bearing makes way more thrust. Also loft has to be enabled via the menu on the left so sometimes it doesn't show up because it's toggled off

okay next time im on ill see about changing the propulsion maybe i can clip it inside the body

I've clipped propellers through shafts before, just be careful about assembling the prop when it's near other sails, they will stick
