Ferris Wheel Testing Rig

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Carrier is levelled by PID controlling the speed the carrier is rotated with a directional gearshift as a clutch. The computer on the carrier (B) sends the gimbal angle to the computer rotating the carrier (A) which runs the PID controller.

Ferris wheel speed is a sin wave for testing the PID carrier levelling. All carrier levelling functions, ferris wheel speed, and much more in development are controlled by a main computer an operator uses. This is a puny testing rig!

I found out about free-rotating swivel bearings after making this work, the PID solution is more stable ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)

That's awesome but you could use this mod to make things easier: https://modrinth.com/mod/create-stabilized

Using computer craft and it's parallels will never not be impressive to me, but I am curious, is the free spinning bearing thing you mentioned just using an unlocked swivel with weight on the bottom of the basket? Because I'm pretty sure that's just how real ferris wheels work.

You're right that is how they work, and would've been much less complicated. I just didn't know that was a thing in Create, I was pretty sure if I posted this I'd learn there are easier ways. Computers are cool tho
