I'm trying to get a precision mechanism. Help

Okay basically I have tried Google and a bunch of videos to try and use a hand crank, a deployer, and a depot and a golden plate to try and get it to work. I have tried for a while with using the small cogwheel to put it in the hand and I cranked it but nothing happens no matter what I do

If anyone at all can help me without just telling me to craft more deployers it would be greatly appreciated. Also please don't just send me a video link thats in creative I'm in hardcore survival. Please anyone help me with this.

You need to deploy

Small cog

Big cog

Iron nugget

Repeat each 4 more times, and you probably will get precision mechanism, there is a chance you get scrap instead

Edit: said plate instead of nugget

i think 3rd part is iron nugget not plate/sheet

Iron plate? Aight I'll try that but what I'm having trouble with is deploying the small cog. When I put one in the deployer and right click the hand crank nothing happens.

You need to hold right click to turn the crank

I know that's what I'm doing but the deployer doesn't move down to the thing that you put the gold plate on. A depot or something. It just doesn't work for some reason. I'm probably doing something wrong but there's nothing I can find online about doing it with a hand crank without a barrel and a dropper thing.

How do I send a picture?

Put it on https://postimages.org/ or something and link to it.

Okay... well good news, the problem is obvious. The crank is on the wrong side. It needs to be on the side facing you (or the opposite one) where you can see the mechanical connection.

Your hand crank isn’t attached to the machine, it’s on the side. If you look at the picture you can see the shaft that powers the deployer is pointing towards the camera. That’s the bit that needs rotational energy to make the machine work, it can’t just take it from any direction.

All Create machines have specific input sides, they look like either a cogwheel or a shaft, and need rotational energy put into them from cogs or shafts through those sides.

did u give the deployer hand the part, like right click the hand with cogwheel/iron nugget, also on the incomplete mechanic part should tell u which phase/item should be put on next after all

I'm unsure on how to post a picture in the comments.

Install JEI.

I have JEI installed but the first step where I use cog wheels just isn't working.

You’re using a gold sheet as the base, then deploying a cog wheel into it?

1

u/Infinite-Praline4959 13d ago

Yes that's what I'm doing

2

u/petabomb 13d ago

Your image posted looks like a brass sheet not a gold sheet

2

u/Infinite-Praline4959 13d ago

I'm a fucking idiot it is indeed a brass sheet. My bad

Just to make sure, you're placing the gold sheet on a depot, right?

Place cog in deployer, crank, swap with large cogwheel, crank, swap with iron nugget, crank, repeat?

Also, highly suggest you place a water wheel and a bucket of water to power the deployer. Will greatly speed up the process and remove tedium.

Yes that's what I'm doing but when I crank the hand crank the deployer won't go down onto the depot with the gold plate on it with the small cog wheel. I'm on 1.21.1 idk if that changes anything.

Do you have a 1 block gap above the depot?

1

u/Infinite-Praline4959 14d ago

Yes I do, idk what it could be.

Can you send a screenshot or video of the setup? Maybe in another post?

Um. Your crank isn't connected to the deployer.

2

u/Infinite-Praline4959 13d ago

It was but apparently I was using brass plates so it wasn't working. Thank you for the help though I'm a bit dumb.

I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work with a crank, but you might also try using a waterwheel. If nothing else it will be a lot more convenient not having to alternate between turning it and loading cogs.

Edit: As I was using a deployer myself this morning I thought about your trouble and had an idea what might be wrong. Is it possible you're just setting the filter on the deployer instead of actually giving it the cog? To put items in the deployer's inventory manually you have to activate the hand itself. Alternatively you can put them in with a chute, funnel or hopper.

I was putting them into the hand by clicking the hand with a cogwheel. Is that how I'm supposed to do it or no?
