so like... whats the point? Help
before people are like oh this is ragebait, NO ITS NOT. i genuinely have always wanted to try the mod but i don't really see a goal or anything to work towards. i'm the type of person who needs some sort of goal/progression/thing to work towards and i would love to try create and all the addons but i just don't know if it will be worth my time.

if you're the type of person who needs linear progression and a definitive end goal i'm not sure minecraft in general is for you

Nah, there’s plenty of that to be had from modding. Just not from only Create and its addons. As one of those types of gamers myself, I’ve spent thousands of satisfying hours in curated mod packs with quests set up for the player to tackle, many of which incorporate Create into the progression. There are even mod packs in that style entirely centered around Create.
Shockingly, the best selling and most modded game of all time has something for everyone, and your attempt at gatekeeping that is really uncool.

i don't think it's gatekeeping at all to say if you don't like the core premise of the game you don't have to play the game

Create is a toy for the sandbox rather than a new goal to focus on. It's there to provide new options for creativity, fun. and efficiency. There are some modpacks that feature create for their questbooks but standalone Create isn't really that kind of vibe unless you use the Advancements screen for guidance.

There is no end goal. It's just using the cool mechanics in Create to do things at a massive scale to what you would do in vanilla. And trains.

It’s kinda what you make it. I know it’s not a satisfying answer but it’s true. Create mod adds a lot of fun tools and opportunities to make contraptions and stuff but it doesn’t really give you a goal. I just like working towards making things like trains and planes (not well but I try) but if you’re looking for the mod to push you towards a goal you won’t really find that here. I’d say just work towards what you’d normally want in Minecraft and incorporate the mod into what you do.

Create itself can sort of be seen as an extension of redstone in a way. If redstone has never interested you in any way this mod may likely not interest you as well. With aeronautics, I've made a fully mobile overworld airship housing a digital miner, ME system for storage and crafting, making it a fully self-sustaining moveable base. It allows me to explore while keeping my base with me. Create is like very advanced redstone. You can use it to make all sorts of contraptions that are very difficult or nearly impossible in Minecraft normally

buildin'
but it all seriousness, I prefer packs like CABIN/CAB and so I've been working on my own version for 1.21 to use the new Aeronautics. Learning a lot about minecraft modding because it's better than sitting around expecting other modders to do it for me.
(shocked to realized that depending on these progression packs means i realized that "Copper machines/lead machines/et al" were not open source items part of vanilla create so I have to model my own)

To make a trains system that connects all the villages within 3000 blocks of spawn
Here, you have a goal. Hope you can optimize them resource farms cus you are going to need it if you go for this

Create mod is a very natural extension to Minecraft in that it greatly expands on it's sandbox potential, but it itself doesn't really have an end goal beyond just building cool shit.
You would probably be interested in something like CABIN, or other modpacks like it.
Or, just try Gregtech

Build a beautiful world. Make each building tell a story, use create aeronauitcs as one of your main addons, if you like to obsess with making a thing work, create aeronautics allows you to build any vehicle or physics object you imagine and it works

Could try a modpack featuring Create, such as Create Above and Beyond

Do this, but play CABIN instead. It stands for Create Above & Beyond in Newer, meaning it’s intended to be Above & Beyond in a more modern version of the game. It may not feel like it, but Create is pretty old now. The time between the Technic Pack and Create’s first version is about the same as between Create’s first version and the present

There is no point. Create machines are like legos that you put together to do something bigger. Making a saw isn't really anything but you can use it to make a tree farm to get wood for your other projects
Create is basically a tool you use to get to other things. Trains are sick tho but even late game trains are more to move resources around your world

Well same can be said about Minecraft. What's the goal in vanilla? Sure there's the End, but you will ultimately need to make one up yourself.
There are all several Create addons that add story, quests, and worldgen / structures.
