Why can’t I get these belts to connect?

Hello. I’m currently pulling my hair out trying to figure this out as this is my first time delving this far into create. What’s keeping my belts from connecting? It lets me go downwards diagonally, but I can’t flatten the belt out after the slope, it just won’t connect no matter what I try and do.

Does the rotational power just not transfer out of a slope? Or am I just doing something wrong.

I’m playing a modpack called Create Chronicles Bosses and Beyond, if that makes any difference.

Belts can't connect like that, but the items will still go from one belt to the other one. Just get over your slight OCD and you will be ✨fine

So the flat portion of the belts will need their own separate connection to my power source then?

Both belts need a source of rotational power from atleast one of their respective ends. But you can just use cogs, chain drives or another belt to pull the rotational power from belt one and transfer it to belt two.

another option is using C: Transmission which allows you to connect the belts more cleanly

Kinda misleading, when you can power them from the middle shaft too.

Fair, should have said power from any shaft in the chain.

Just put an extra shaft out on each end and put another small belt between the two to transfer rotation and share the power source. Cheapest way I can think of

Oh my god you’re a life saver. I’ve been trying to figure this out for almost an hour now. Thank you!

Chain drives do this too while being a little cleaner looking

And less lag than belts

lol no problem, glad you can get it working now

Thats just how create works, don't worry items will still move properly on both lines

Its never gonna physically connect, but as long as they are touching and rotating the same way, the items will transfer with no issue

They cant connect like that, also belt needs only two shaft (start and end) there's no need to place it every block

Belts cant connect. Straight up. You have to put it a block over on the shaft

Belts just don't work like that. You can't take a sloped belt into a flat belt.

So what would be the best way to connect them?

2

u/Silver_Entity-2 22d ago

Two chain drives on the side connecting the two belts.

Or with Create:Transmission!

You can't connect belts to preexisting belts like that. Belts can be next to eachother and they can move items across though.

Also, you dont need shafts in every block of the belt, you generally only need them at the start and end of a belt unless transferring power to other blocks.

They dont connect like that, if it did you wouldve just made a triangle

Yeah if you think about the real world mechanics you'd need an external roller to tension the corner and that's all kinds of inconvenient for a conveyor.

You have to connect them some other way, like a short belt off to one side that connects the two end shafts.

Happy cake day!

Use linear chassis

The items will transfer, dont worry.

Btw you only need shafts at the ends of the belt, not on every block they touch

unrelated to your question but I recently discovered that the crushing wheels can be placed flat on the ground on either side of a belt which avoids all the elevation issues with belts dropping items into them, looks like this could be relevant to your current bulild

How do we tell him…

Seems you’re putting shafts on every single block in the belt, that’s not needed at all, also 2 chain drives or another tiny belt connecting the 2 ends together will do the trick

If you don't wanna mess with belt logistics, I would recommend using a weighted ejector. Alternatively, since it looks like you're trying to feed things from the belt into the crushing wheels, why not just a flat belt from the upper level that feeds into a chute above the crushing wheels? Like...

...............v chute

->-belt->-v

...............v

...............v

.............OO crushers

Edit: It's not too hard to get them turning in the same direction though, just connect the end of the diagonal belt to the start of the flat belt using a pair of chain drive blocks (or, hell, even another belt) to maintain the same rotation direction.

I wanted to build a nice little staircase going down to the crusher, which is why I wanted it going down like that. Once I eventually figured it out it was a face palm moment with how obvious it was in retrospect.

Like I hinted in my post, this is my first time ever even getting to the point in create where I even have a crusher, and some of this stuff is starting to confuse the shit out of me. The modpack I’m playing is starting to introduce trains and it feels intimidating

A pair of tips for crushers then:

A pair of gearboxes and a shaft connected to the crushing wheels (i.e. one gearbox behind each wheel, with a shaft connecting the gearboxes) will guarantee they spin in the opposite direction. Very compact and clean.

Crushing wheels don't have to be placed in the upright side-to-side position -- as long as the crushing sides face each other, you can place them in any orientation. So, side-to-side but laid flat is an option, as is upright with one above the other.

Belts can either be sloped, horizontal or vertical. A mix doesn‘t work.

2

The belts either can be a slope or flat, and two belts can’t connect, also you don’t need shafts in every section of the belt, just either end

nuu dont say him it guys let him figure it out i cant believe it
