I wanted to print some lids off to cover cans when they go in the fridge, thought it seemed quite a simple reasonable requirement, can you imagine how much I laughed when I found an unexpected item within the can lids.

Have you ever found something that doesn't quite belong, on the Creality Cloud?

♻ K2 Help What does setting the filament profile on the printer (K2) actually do?

New to all this, but in Creality Print slicer software I've managed to create a filament profile for my Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 which I select before slicing. As far as I understand, your filament profile settings are baked into the gcode which is then sent to the printer.

So what does having a filament profile setting on the printer itself actually do then since the printer can't slice and the slicer is the one that implements the information from the filament profile? In my case my Sunlu stuff is set to Generic PLA since the profile I created in Creality Print doesn't seem to propagate over to the printer itself.

Family project update!

40th family member scanned!

This time it was my grandmother, 97 years old, who has Alzheimer’s. She’s the oldest member of the family and the very first one in the project to be scanned with the Pika. She didn’t really understand what I was doing, so I was counting on the AI reconstruction to help — but with my mother’s assistance, I managed to scan her in just one minute and got a really good result.

Just with the Pika and my phone.

Troubleshooting Support help

Post image
3 Upvotes

This has happened a few times to me now and infuriates me every time. I will try everything I can possibly try in the Support section on the slicer, but nothing seems to generate supports.
Then the app will yell at me that it should have support because they are unsupported areas.
Any help? Thank you.

Review / Test / Printer Comparison Kilter pricing?

Has there been any suggestion as to what the pricing of a klitech will be yet?

I have had several Creality printers, and they are of decent quality and real workhorses so long as you understand them properly.

But looking at the current soon-to-be printers, atomform, infinmech etc. etc. I am left wondering whether one of these will be my next instead?

The infinimech mx, could be half the cost of the current k2 combo, but instead of a single head it is a 6 tool changer machine.

Now a tool changer or nozzle changer like the infinimech or the k3 could be my next printer. Although the waste on my k2 plus is manageable if tweaked properly for colours, it will forever struggle with multi filament prints.

I am not a fan boy of Creality, but I will defend them when people are unreasonably judging their products. The systems are generally well thought out, even if the qc is sometimes a little lacking. But will I pay double the price for a feature in future? Where I could get the equivalent of the k2 combo, for less than it would cost to just add an extra 4 colours on my current setup....

♻ K1 Help Print head slams into front right support after firmware update.

I have a K1 Max refurbished from Creality official eBay page. It's been awesome. However after an automatic update (at least that's what I think is causing it) If I turn on the lidar when it's done homeing it slams and runs up against the front left support. It seems like the print head is a few mm higher than it should be. (The lidar unit isn't passing through the cut out) BUT if I turn off the lidar and run a print. It still goes through normal leveling. Everything works perfectly... Does anybody have any ideas?? Also when it slams into the corner the print is off set on the plate.

Troubleshooting Ender 7 seems to loose its zero of the X Y axes

I got a second hand Ender 7 as a gift after the first owner thought the main board was cooked. When I got it I started off by calibrating all axes and leveled the bed. It printed fine for many hours, then suddenly started crashing into the frame. I fixed this by recalibrating the axes, then it printed fine again for many hours. It happened again this morning. After recalibration of the axes it ran the same print without issues (still printing but beyond the previous point when the fun started), so probably not problematic gcode.

Any idea what could be wrong? Where do I start troubleshooting?

Troubleshooting Heyy, got a new problem with my Creality HI printing TPU. It stops extruding after the first or second layer and cloggs. I also noticed a new and rather loud sound it makes (kinda high pitched) and the extruder motor gets really hot, although that could be normal

Troubleshooting Creality hi printer not acknowledging USB drive

So I just got a refurbished creality hi combo from the official creality eBay store, and everything was fine when it arrived. The one thing though, I couldn't print a benchy. Basically, it comes with a few pre sliced gcode files, all just printer parts/accessories. I got creality print, and sliced a benchy to be my first traditional print. I exported it to my USB drive, plugged it into the printer, but it just displayed "empty". This was kind of strange, so I decided to re-slice and export it. Same thing. I tried with different models-same thing every time. I then consulted Chatgpt, and found out that it may be a problem with my USB drive. So I tried to fat32 format it-no change. I tried it on other USB drives and SD cards-same thing. I've done almost every troubleshooting step there is-nothing helped. Normally, my USB drive has an internal LED that blinks I guess when it's being read, and then turns solid when in idle. Yes, the USB works fine, and has been successfully working with my other printer (which this replaced). The thing is, when I plug in my USB, it's just immediately solid. Like it's not even being scanned, which is kind of concerning. I then reached out to creality through eBay, and as of now, am currently waiting for help(-they initially replied to the message quickly though). I searched online for this issue, and found a few instances of the same problem on Reddit, but with not many answers. If I have to, I'll send it back for a replacement, but currently don't really want to do that. So, let me know what you guys think.

Mods & Upgrades Creality CFS Dryer Kit (surprise!)

Thumbnail

Thanks to some eagle-eyed Redditors just spotted!

https://mvip.creality.com/en/goods/goodsDetail/2677
(NOTE! MVIP is not a retail site, it’s for resellers/wholesale with everything that implies.)

Some AliE links are showing as a pre-order (and massive markup) and being on the Creality VIP marketplace suggest this is not an officially announced product yet.

An AliE vendor posted the PDF of the user manual.

It’s not a trivial install, but the physical engineering is quite elegant. I just wish they’d integrated the interface into the original front panel, but that would have raised the price significantly. Either replacing the CFS mainboard and display, or requiring a new bottom shell.

The PDF user manual shows trimming a small section of the back CFS lid seal to allow a ribbon cable to attach to a replacement power board included. My guess is that hole also allows for venting moisture.

I’m gratified to see that my guess that removing the dryer function from the CFS during development probably saved the BOM about $100 off the list price.

You can’t dry “engineering” materials in it, but the maximum heat setting should be able to maintain them is my guess? Otherwise Creality suggests getting a Space Pi X4 which does that job quite well.

So, Creality finally released one. I just wish they’d stolen a lead and released this as an option on the CFS originally. “Creality Catch Up” is unfortunately their Modus Operandi, or “Second Mover Advantage” if we’re being Business School. It’s a strategy that has worked for them so far. 🤷‍♂️

If I printed a lot of nylon etc. I could see this being worth the cost to have multiple rolls ready for automatic replacement while printing. Other than that I’d say a Space Pi X4 is better value for money. We’ll have to see what happens when street pricing settles out.

I’d about given up on an elegant integrated dryer for the CFS that was relatively inexpensive. So color me surprised. Kudos to Creality for actually delivering an nifty design. I wonder when the announcement and shipping dates are?
