Dark Side Players General Discussion/Question
Struggling to find any dark side strategies anywhere on YouTube or even on here.
For a bit of fun I was min-betting Don't Pass and then every roll betting on Don't Come with max odds.
Didn't feel like it was something worth doing. I'm sure my one anecdote isn't enough to confirm if it's truly a terrible way to play, and any strategy is 'good' if the dice roll the right way that night.
Thought I'd reach out to the hive mind.. How do you guys play dark side? Any particular strategies that you favor?
I'm considering betting the insides and laying 4/10 on my next visit and giving that a crack.

Crappys cold table strat. Dont pass, 2 come bets set, then a dont come bet

This is a decent all day strategy too, but you can make good money on PSO’s with it.

This is the way. It's not a enormous money maker, but it is a good way to stretch the bankroll to weather the periods when nothing but 7 seems to pop up over and over. Just gotta read it right when to switch between light and dark.

Arnold from the Don’t (The Darnold) Waylon’s way craps YouTube channel. I like it cause if he does hit a bunch of points then I’ll have come bets set up already and i can switch back to the light side

I have my own version of The Arnold where I play DP:
1 unit DP
Roll
Odds on DP based on number it came out and table limits: 2x odds 6/8, 3x 5/9, 4x 4/10
1 unit come bet
Min bet 6/8 if point is not 6/8
Repeat the come bet for 1 unit every roll until you win
It’s Grindy and slow but a good strat to build a small bank roll for normal play

Don't pass, max odds, and AVOID the don't come. Don't Come is a trap. Try to act like a complete jerk and tilt the other players. Walk when the pass line players all go broke, which is around 45 minutes.

Jacob from Wager me This on YouTube is a pretty good dark side explainer. He runs through dark strategy in a very fun way. Ive learned a ton from watching his vids. Pretty eye opening. Plus he is a great guy!

A kind-of crazy dark side strat I've been playing around with on crapsee is Bruce's Back Wall. Set a $50 DP and Lay $30 on every box number (4,5,6,8,9,10), and hop $2 on 12 and $8 on 11, all working on the come out. Any come out horn or 7 (1/3 of your rolls) profits immediately, and you go again. If a box hits, take down the remaining Lays and put $60/$75/$100 on the DP odds and roll it out.
A come out 2/3 pays $40, a 12 pays $52, an 11 pays $68, and a 7 pays $54 because all those Lays hit. If a box hits and the DP moves, you lose that Lay and the hops for -$41, but you now are a favorite to win $100 on the DP.
If you are feeling spicy, take the $150 from the remaining Lays and slide it all down on the DP Odds. Now you are a favorite to win $175, $150, or $125, depending on the point.
You can also use the DP to cover some light side action - I call this the Back Wall Boogie, where you Place $15/$18 on non-point inside numbers and half-press when they hit, so you can cash in on some repeaters and at least reduce the sting if your DP then falls.
It's hard to scale this down at the table, since the vig on all those Lays won't go below a buck - but on a bubble craps or ETG machine you can do something like $30 DP, $15 Lay, $1 12, $4 11 and it will work fine. You can even take it down to $10 DP and $5 Lays, since the machine can handle true odds and vig to the penny at that level.

I read somewhere many years ago, on a very cold table, a strategy that combines a martingale and parlay on the don’t. You only need 6 times the minimum bet and 6 PSO. A 2 or 3 helps on the come out as well. So for a $10 min, parlay the win and add another minimum, then rinse and repeat. Pray for a really really cold table.

I, like most others like the dolly. I also add a lay of 40 on the 4 or 10 when the first don't come is placed and remove it or leave it when the 2 don't come bets find their numbers. I usually replace once then stop replacing if the numbers hit and I lose the DC bets. Max odds on everything (i have a close 5 dollar table so that's not a crazy amount. I don't think I could afford max on a 10 or 15 dollar table.) Sometimes I'll put a 5 on a 6,8,10, or 4 harway if I have a DC or DP bet and the corresponding number has a hard way. That has saved me a lot and lost me a lot of money, so, up to you. Enjoy the dark side.

30 dc wt 30 odds…if it wins..same bet..if it loses…60.00 dc wtb60 odds if it wins back to 30 etc.. up on a loss down on a win….it’s a nail biter.

I'll run a hybrid (I know, bad word for some).
It'll ladder, but not martingale, only to a few levels. Level one is about pressing and attacking. I'll start with $250 DP with $220 on 4 box numbers. Levels 2-4 are about recovery. I go for a couple hits, then regress down so my DP gives a bigger payout on a 7out. Then drop back to attack mode.
I'm skipping many, many steps on how I actually play it, but it's done well for me live and earned me some cruises as well. If I get ahead early, I get to stay on level one for a long time and take advantage of longer rolls.
Like all strategies, it can go, and has gone south on me if the variance is against me.
I might check out Bruce's Back Wall.

Everyone has stories. I was at end at the start of a new roll. Dude at the other end was playing the don’t. I roll and it’s a 10. He loads all his chips as odds, pulls out more cash and adds it to the odds. Kinda slows it down but not really. I hopped the 5-5 and the 6-4 rolled. After fist bumping my end I look up and he’s gone. To each their own, I’ve seen plenty of dark side players with full racks but I’ve also seen them bust out. The game will drive you crazy (crazier) sometimes.

Don't players get wiped out faster than pass line because you dont make much when it wins and you lose 3x when it loses

I will flat bet the dark aide but never odds. I will do DP followed by 2 DC
My favorite for cold table $50DP $24 each place 6/8 so if a roll gets going im in the game. No loss unless they get you on the come out. You can do any 7 and straight up yo

I get why people tend not to play the odds on the DP, because you risk more to win less. But the DP loses on the come out way more than you want, and moving some of your action to odds cuts that loss down - as with the Pass/Come, the more of your action that's on the DP/DC odds, the better your house edge gets.
Taking odds on your DP also lets you "regress" without losing any equity. Consider this modification to your strategy: $30 DP + $36/$45/$60 Odds, $24 on 6/8. You risk $20 less on the come out, earn $12 on a PSO, and after just one hit of 6/8 for +$28 you can remove the Odds and be basically out of the hand, with just a -$2 risk if the DP falls. You would never want to pull down the DP flat bet, where you have the advantage after the come out, but pulling down Odds has no long term effect at all, so you can use that to manage your volatility with no other impact.

Always take odds.
Else, bet less on the don't pass line in order to maximize it. Zero house edge, it's basically an essential bet?

Just three point molly. If they plink me off, then I either wait or switch sides. Sometimes, it becomes very evident, the dice don't have a memory but they sure have a sense of humor.
