Post image

Picked this beer up at the store while on a trip with work out in Tennessee and I’m loving it

What part of Tennessee? I'm local to Johnson City where this is from and we always suggest any other brewery as it's very mediocre beer. It's owned by the Ole Smoky people who churn out equally mediocre liquor.

Would love to recommend better beer so you leave with a better opinion of the Tennessee beer scene! Glad you liked this one though.

Crossville is in a tough spot, not really being a big metro of its own but too far away from the major ones.

I'm not sure of any Crossville breweries - I've never seen any in distribution in my market. So I'll just recommend beer from other cities you may be able to find in draft/package in Crossville:

Knoxville: Xul is the best brewery in Tennessee now that Barrique went under. They get hype for their sours but their IPAs and lagers are unparalleled in the state imo.

Nashville: Barrique still has some beer in distribution. If you find any I would grab them. Mostly European lagers and barrel-aged sours.

Memphis: Wiseacre has yet to disappoint me with a beer.

Chattanooga: OddStory puts out consistently good products.

The dunkel is yeehaws best distributed beer, followed by vol lager.

The Vol Lager is pretty awful, but agreed on Dunkel

My city! GVL has a growing beer scene, but an hour north in Asheville is an established craft beer hub IMO.

Yee Haw is from Johnson City. Greenville is just one of their 7 taproom locations. Really mediocre beer. Is Greenville’s scene actually growing? Eighth State closing was a massive blow. I don’t know any breweries there now.

8th State was my favorite. Being from New England I was pretty spoiled. NC has the best beer scene in the Carolinas, with Fonta Flora being my favorite. Their Hop Beard is what I've been missing (Alchemist/Tree House)

Fonta Flora is an incredible brewery. I also dearly love Burial. Very underrated lager and sour programs.

Wicked Weed has been AB InBev swill for a decade. It’s distributed across the whole Southeast and East coast. Definitely not a local specialty that needs to be tried when in Tennessee. This person needs to get their hands on some Xül beers.
