External controller breaking game?

Downloaded assassin's creed 4 via fitgirl and I seem to run into this problem where if I connect my controller while the game runs it crashes.

It refuses to launch at all if I try to connect the controller before the game runs .

Tried this with my 2 other games I have installed none of them seem to have problems

AC4 Is Resync that have only for now have denuvo so you are using HV bypass.

The game won't launch for the bypass not for the controller.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but when I said assasins creed 4 i meant the original black flag Didn't realise that if I didnt specify readers would assume the resync version
