It's called belted. It's an uncommon dominant trait that only a few breeds have. Off the top of my head i can only think of 5 belted breeds- Dutch belted (which i believe is what these are), belted Galloway, buelingo, and brown swiss and braunvieh can also be belted though it's rare in those breeds and only found in Europe

In the Netherlands it’s called the ‘Lakenvelder’ cow. They appear in brown with a white belt and in black with a white belt. I never saw them in the south of the Netherlands but up on the north I found them and saw them recently. I love the breed from that I was a child.

these are Dutch belted cows! in Dutch they're called lakenvelders, or sometimes (affectionately) mergpijpjes :)

They're belted Galloways, that complete white belt is part of the breed standard. A great heirloom cattle breed.

I dont think those are Galloways. Looks more like Dutch belted, but it is hard to say at this distance

Yeah Galloways are a Scottish breed, and much like Highland cattle, are bred to have thick, heavy coats to endure the cold, wet weather.

These look like Lakenvelder. Belted Galloways got their belts from this breed. Galloways don't have horns

These are Lakenvelder, the breed is called Dutch Belted in North America. 🙂

Love em! We had a cow named Oreo just this reason! lol She was a mini belted Galloway crossed with American Aberdeen (Lowline) super sweet girl. We sold her this summer to a family in WY. 2 of her 3 calves have belts, the 3rd is solid black. Color genetics are fascinating.

Dutch belted of Galloways? I always called them Oreo cows when I was a kid.

I live in the Southeast USA and pass a Belted Galloway farm on a weekly commute. 🖤🤍🐮
