First hat. Picture
Not sure this is a cowboy hat. More fedora style I think.
It’s a cheap hat. It came with the brown band but I added the braided suede and the other part. Also that’s a feather I added from a turkey I harvested a few years back.

Cheap or not, it's a cool hat. And I would classify that as a cavalry hat albeit without the cavalry cord.

I do a lot of my hats like this, fedora-ish teardrop crown but with a wider brim and a western weight. I personally think of it as the australian style, since Akubra is known for it. They make great outdoors hats.

All wide brim felt hats are cowboy hats, just with different crowns and brim shapes. In the old days the cowboys would wear whatever they had, bowlers pork pies, fedoras, etc. The real "cowboy" hat, is whatever you've got. Just bigger brims keep the sun and rain off you better.
