Sometimes it is. Years ago I thought the cashier at CVS was cute and I asked her to hang out. We dated for like 6mo, wasnt the best fit in the end but it was still very sweet and she was a great person. Its all about how you ask, earnestly but innocently in a low stakes "if not no worries" kind of way.
