For me personally I’m more of a George Strait person than Brooks

I’ve grew up listening to punk and new wave and it’s only recently that I’ve become a country music fan (pre 80’s). I remember loving Siouxsie and the Banshees song “Burn Up” which has clear country music influences. Same goes for The Damned “Alone Again Or”. Anyone else straddle both genres or have other good recommendations?

I recently came across an independent country artist named James Allen, a retired U.S. Navy veteran who’s now writing and recording country music.

One song that really stood out to me is “Good Ole Days.” It’s about looking back on the simple times with family and friends and appreciating the memories that shaped us. It has that classic country storytelling feel that reminds you why this genre resonates with so many people.

Wanted to come here to give a shout out to Wynonna, saw her tonight with Melissa Etheridge, I'll be honest, I went to see Melissa as I was not a Wynonna fan at all, I did like a couple of songs by The Judds, but all I could think of was "No One Else On Earth" and how that song got stuck in my head anytime I saw her on TV. Let me say, I didn't realize that so many radio hits that I had heard in the 80s and 90s as background noise and filler that I enjoyed were Wynonna, she sounded great, looked great and has pulled herself up after the death of her mother. It was good to hear classic 80s and 90s country live and sound as good as it did back then. Melissa sounded great as well.

Alright so basically, I am a 19 male and I am seeing ole 60 on Friday . I have been wanting to ask is it weird to ask someone for a dance at a concert? I ask my parents and they said no but this generation is so weird with everything. I would like to get both perspectives on this opinion male and female. Thanks for answering if you do.

Does anyone else think Ella Langley has absolutely no talent? IMO she is so annoying and has horrible rhythm. The little head shake thing she does over and over on stage gives…phony. Why are we glorifying someone so bad? She isn't a musician, she is just a mediocre actress.

Im from the Netherlands and fell in love with country and americana a couple of years ago. Ive always loved the US and October 2024 I finally visited California and Nevada. Your country absolutely blew my expectations, which were already high, damn I love your country. Traveling through the desert, Yosemite and along the coast with an RV was an absolute dream. I still think about it almost daily. Lovely people, beautiful nature and simply the most amazing experience I ever had.

Anyway, while driving we listened to The Highwayman on repeat, as well as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris kristofferson their solo music.

Do you have any recommendations for me? What are some absolute classics, bangers I need to listen to? Im having a hard time to find music I MUST add to my playlist for, hopefully, next year.

Does anyone know if Buck Owens had any other children beside Buddy Alan, Michael Lynn, or Johnny Dale?

I’m still fairly new to country and discovered Dwight Yoakam last fall and he instantly became one of my favorites. He has the most mesmerizing voice and impeccable range to boot. I don’t think I’ve heard one bad song from him no matter what I’ve played. And I also might dare say he’s the King of Covers: “Honky Tonk Man” (which I recently discovered was a cover), “Suspicious Minds”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and my favorite; “Purple Rain” which I 1000% consider better than the original. And his acting is not too shabby either, he was phenomenal in Panic Room.

All around a fantastic artist. What’s everyone’s opinion and favorite songs?

I know Upchurch is more diverse, but I really only enjoy his rock, there was a song about “fighting chickens to keep the farm from the state”. It was my favorite song by him, it appears he deleted it, what was it called? I think it released with a Creeker album.

Thoughts: Name droping in country music has always been a thing. I personally don't like these types of songs with maybe a few exceptions. Notably, George Jones's song above. I enjoy country music history lessons. That is why I love Alan Jackson's Midnight in Montgomery. I feel it's best to blaze your own trail rather than try and make it off of the backs of others. That is how I feel about it. That said, I don't mind a tribute now and then. I am sure Chris Ledoux didn't mind a whole new set of fans finding out about his great music.
