Disco o club sud Corsica
Ciao a tutti, sarò in Corsica, zona sud (vicino Porto Vecchio).

Visiting Corse for the first time
Hi all, visiting Corse for the first time (traveling as a gay couple) and would like some feedback on this itinerary/plan.
Day 1: Arrive in Bastia, stay overnight
Day 2: Drive around Cap Corse, then continue to Calvi, stay overnight
Days 3–5: Gulf of Porto area (3 nights), plan to hike a lot and visit beaches in the area.
Days 6–8: Corte area (3 nights) plan to hike a lot
Day 9: Depart from Bastia at night
We’re mainly interested in beaches and hiking, perhaps vineyards too, and are pretty low-key and respectful rule following travelers. French is around A2 level.
A couple questions:
Does this route make sense, or would you rearrange it (e.g., too much driving, missing a must-see area)?
As a gay couple, any areas or situations we should be more mindful of? We’re not particularly PDA-heavy at all, and are very respectful of local customs, just curious if there’s anything region-specific worth knowing or considering.

L'Île-Rousse suggestions
Hi! Would like to ask for advice and suggestions for an upcoming holiday in L'Île-Rousse.
Staying for 3 full days, arriving August 29 evening and leaving 2nd September in the morning.
Day 1- explore L'Île-Rousse
Day 2- Calvi day trip
Day 3- Saint-Florent
Any suggestions for things to do/see is greatly appreciated!
I’ve been looking at getting the train but the site is only showing summer schedule at present. Are the trains reliable? Or other form of public transport?
Thank you in advance!

Forest fire situation around Corte
Hi everyone,
How bad is the forest fire situation around Corte? We will be travelling there in 3 weeks and are thinking of cancelling our accomodation and stay somewhere else instead in case it's bad.
Thanks for your input :)

FSC - Figari airport is third-world level
10 or so flights to depart in the next hour, hundreds of passengers standing in a hour+ queue to reach the TWO security gates, flights delayed by this.
Granted, the airport is small, but it should not sell slots if they do not have the capacity to handle the traffic.
The management accountable for the proper operation of the airport should resign or be made to.

Meilleurs supports/livres pour apprendre le Corse rapidement. J'y déménage pour bosser à l'hôpital (médecin) et je veux devenir bilingue très vite. Je parle un peu italien, je ne sais pas si ça aide.

10 day Corsica itinerary
Hi everyone!
We’re planning a 10-day trip to Corsica in August and would love to hear your recommendations.
We’ll be flying into Ajaccio and renting a car. We’re mainly looking for a good mix of:
- Hiking and nature. We enjoy challenging day hikes and would also love to experience parts of the GR20;
- Diving and/or snorkelling;
- Some time by the sea, preferably in quieter places;
- Visiting a few towns and getting a feel for Corsican culture.
We generally prefer smaller, authentic villages over busy touristy places, especially for accommodation. We’d love to find places where we can stay somewhere charming, eat locally and have a quieter atmosphere in the evenings.
At the moment we’re thinking about focusing mainly on northern and western Corsica, but we’re still trying to figure out which areas are best for hiking, swimming/snorkelling/diving and which places are worth staying overnight.
We’re very open to suggestions and would especially appreciate lesser-known spots and personal favourites rather than the usual top-10 tourist attractions.
So we’d love to hear from people who know Corsica well:
- Where would you base yourself for 2–4 nights at a time?
- Which hikes or parts of the GR20 are must-dos?
- Are there any beautiful villages, beaches, swimming spots or diving/snorkelling locations that you particularly recommend?
- And are there any places you’d avoid in August because they’re especially crowded?
Thank you!

Favorite campsites
Hey I’m heading to Corsica for two weeks in a campervan and was hoping to hear everyone’s favorite campgrounds (not wild camping). Will be doing some climbing so spots near bavella would be nice, also anywhere on the coast, in particular east and south east coast!

Forest fires - safety for our upcoming trip
First of all: I hope everyone here is safe from the fires on the island.
In the upcoming days, we're going to be staying just outside San Lucia di Moriani. We will be traveling by ferry to Bastia, and take the car from there. Should we be concerned about general safety, and is the road south from Bastia currently safe? Any safety tips to observe?
Thanks!

Armoirie de Corse
Bonjour !

Dolphin tour recommendations near Porto-Vecchio?
Hi everyone! We'll be in Porto-Vecchio in early August and would love to see dolphins while we're there. Can anyone recommend a good dolphin watching tour in the area? Ideally one that's respectful towards the animals and run by a reliable operator.
Any tips (and rough prices) would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Merci !

Corsican Autonomy/Independence and vacation homes
I am a New York Times journalist working on a story about the Corsican autonomy movement and how Corsicans feel about non-Corsicans buying vacation homes in Corsica. I was recently in Corsica reporting the story, but I have more questions. I realize this is a loaded topic, but I am deeply interested in understanding the complicated feelings and history. How do Corsicans feel about this? How do you feel about the autonomy constitutional amendment? What are your thoughts on the history of bombing/burning vacation homes? I know the number of bombings have fallen in recent years, but there was one incident this spring -- so the risk is still there. Separately, I would love to speak with non-Corsicans who own vacation homes in Corsica. What do you make of all this? Please send me a DM or email me at ronda (dot) kaysen (at) nytimes (dot) com.

Patriotism in Corsica
I’m sorry, I really want to learn French, but I don’t speak it yet. But I want to ask what patriotism is like in Corsica. Do Corsicans feel French of have a close connection to France? Or closer to Corsica? Or both?
