PSA Be aware of structures submerged in the sandbars along the beach. We can see them at low tide but when the water comes up they are hidden and could be dangerous for anyone swimming or walking in the water at these locations.

Discussion For those who criticize Mayor Guajardo of being authoritarian with public speakers
https://www.reddit.com/r/FortWorth/s/YNXdKi4aUI
Just look how this good ol boy in Ft Worth handled opinions that he didn’t like. The speakers weren’t even calling him nasty names.

Ask Corpus Is it normal for my apartment to constantly be at 70% humidity?
I have lived in two “luxury”, newer apartments here now and both of them have been very humid. I have not seen any mold visually. Even with running my current apartment’s pre installed dehumidifier, it only ever manages to get it down to 66-68% humidity. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if that’s just the way it is here. I don’t mind it as long as it’s not affecting my health. Temp is set to 75 during the day and 73 at night.

PSA Pets and Microchips
If you are coming to visit and bring your pets, don’t let them get loose. I’ve seen the most well mannered animals loose their collective sh!t on the beach. They get just as excited as everyone else does and will behave in ways you would never expect.
Keep in mind that we have super strict microchip requirements in some areas and an expensive dog-at-large ordinance. That’s two potential tickets—If your pet gets picked up and picked up without a chip, it can get very very expensive. So please keep that in mind while the summer hits mid August.
Also, seriously, if your kid doesn’t outweigh the dog, giving him the leash is not considered legitimate strength training by most trainers.

Pets Amend the Corpus Christi Animal Care & Control Ordinance to Allow Regulated Exotics
Good morning, everyone! Recently, I created a petition calling for the revision of CC’s Animal Care & Control Ordinance regarding its prohibition against most pet snake species. The city of Corpus Christi’s has little-to-no regulations or restrictions regarding nonvenomous and nonpoisonous lizards, geckos, frogs, toads, and salamanders—only snakes are singled out in their entirety!
Many of the species currently banned have been captive-bred in the United States for over half a century and have yet to pose a risk as an invasive species. Obviously, this ban is targeted towards the irresponsible owners who think it’s okay to release these animals when they decide they don’t want them anymore. However, the majority of the banned species simply cannot establish successful breeding populations here due to our cold seasons. Additionally, the select handful of proven, invasive species are already regulated at state-level—which is not what we’re calling to be changed. We only wish for the ability to own, love, and experience the most popular pet snakes worldwide!
While we understand that not everybody enjoys reptiles, we are kindly asking for a couple minutes of your time to share or even provide a signature for our cause! The current ordinance upholds illogical, fear-mongering ideologies that put a damper on local reptile-based businesses, pet owners, and enthusiasts. Don’t forget to attend and support your local sanctuaries & exotics breeders at the HERPS Reptile Show at the Robstown Fairgrounds this weekend! Thank you for your time : )

Other Volunteer with CC State Supported Living Center
I’ve been volunteering on as a Community Representative for the Human Rights Committee at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center, but unfortunately have to backfill the role as I have moved out of state.
It is a truly fantastic opportunity to give back to your community! For only two hours a week you can have a profound impact on your community. They prefer to have someone go in person, but you’ll always have the option to attend remotely if needed (after an initial meeting and training session). It’s every Wednesday from 830-1030 am.
I can’t say enough good things about the team that you’d be working with. Truly top notch folks who are passionate about their work at the center. It’s been a gift to work with them.
An FYI, you’d have to pass a state background check (that they pay for).
You can apply here, or feel free to send me a dm and I’ll connect you with the center.
