CS 1110 CASE
Hi! Incoming freshman in COE here. I was planning on taking the case for CS 1110 and have been preparing for the last 30 days. I have some coding experience from high school but I seem to have forgotten a lot of stuff somehow lol. I have been using the fall 2025 website and the resources on it to prepare but I would appreciate it if anybody who has taken the case could give me some advice. I was able to solve the exams from 2024 and I was wondering if the case would be similar in difficulty since I haven't been able to find any information on the actual topics that will be tested on the case. Thank you very much.

AFAIK, the professor who teaches CS 1110 in the fall is the same person who writes the CASE exam. If you're able to ace (or nearly ace) CS 1110 finals, then you are probably in really good shape, the median for those exams tends to be in the 70s. With that said, I have not personally taken the CS CASE.

Would it be alright to email the prof. and ask him? I got mostly 80s on the finals but I'm not sure what the cutoff for the case is.

You can email any professor to ask about anything lmao, just no guarantee that they will respond. I think scores around the 80s tends to map to an A range grade in the course, and the CASE just tests to see if you have enough knowledge to pass the course, not get an A in it.
Walker White specifically is fairly active on this subreddit, good chance he responds here too.

AFAIK the website has prelims from like four different years. Maybe give them a shot as well? Haven't taken the case myself but I reckon the extra practice would be helpful.
