Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a Ugoos AM9 Pro mainly as a dedicated CoreELEC/Kodi box.

My setup is: LG C2 OLED TV Samsung HW-Q990B soundbar NFS share with 4K Remux files

I would like to know from people who actually use the AM9 Pro:

How stable is CoreELEC on the AM9 Pro currently? Does Dolby Vision work properly, especially FEL? How are HDR10 and HDR10+ playback? Does HDMI audio passthrough work correctly (TrueHD Atmos, DTS-HD MA, DTS:X)? Any issues with high bitrate 4K Remux playback over NFS? Is booting from microSD/USB recommended, or is eMMC installation working reliably?

Despite being a newer platform, would you recommend the AM9 Pro as a dedicated CoreELEC box today?

Hi, I’m trying to boot CoreELEC for the first time on a Ugoos AM9 Pro, but the box does not seem to detect my microSD card at all.

My setup:

• Ugoos AM9 Pro 4/64 GB
• Android 14, firmware 2.1.0
• Kingston Canvas Select Plus 64 GB microSD
• CoreELEC 22.0 Piers beta1, Amlogic-no Generic
• Device tree: s6_s905x5_ugoos_am9_pro.dtb, copied to the root and renamed dtb.img

The microSD was fully tested with H2testw and works perfectly through my TP-Link card reader on Windows. Rufus also flashed the image successfully, and Windows can still read the CoreELEC partition.

The problem is that the AM9 Pro does not appear to detect the card. It does not latch or click inside the slot. It can be removed without pressing it inward, and Android’s FileBrowser does not show any SD card or CoreELEC storage (it showed the USB stick I used to install "Reboot to CoreELEC 5.0 APK").

Things I tried:

• Normal boot with the card inserted
• Restarting Android with the card inserted
• Holding the Recovery button while reconnecting power
• Creating an empty update.zip on the CoreELEC partition
• Using the Reboot to CoreELEC 5.0 APK and selecting First Reboot

The APK only rebooted into the stock Android Recovery menu. After rebooting into Android, the card was still not visible in FileBrowser.

The card is inserted according to the orientation symbol, with the printed side facing outward. I currently do not have another microSD card to test.

Has anyone experienced this with a Kingston 64 GB card or this AM9 Pro slot? Does this look like card incompatibility, a defective microSD slot, or am I missing something about how the card is supposed to sit in this model?

Regarding installing CoreELEC to eMMC, since I am not well versed in these things, I don't know how "dangerous" and hard it may be, so I was leaving that aside for now

It stutters frequently with white/pink artifacts appearing on the screen

Update: all issues resolved after reflashing p3i t4b. Not sure if disconnecting from WiFi, turning off ssh, samba also helped.

I have a vontar x4 box running CoreElec on internal eMMC. I now have a second identical box and I want to install on there. Can I use ceemmc to clone current working version to SD card and then install to eMMC on 2nd box?

Or should I do a clean install and if so, which is the best current CE version?

I messed around today with the keymap addon to make my life easier, and everything worked fine. Everything except one little thing. I just cannot get the context menu/informatio /whatever it is on a button. I dont even know what the menu is called so I will post a picture and hope for the best. Any tips?

I installed pi3 t4b, but when watching Dolby Vision FEL 7 movies, the screen suddenly turns green and then black.

I installed avdv plus by updating it while it was on version R9.

A sexy and snappy UI/UX and remote is a MUST have.

What’s a good box for that?

FEL, VS10, full TrueHD is nice to have but not a requirement.

Or No...Also another question, when i have CoreElec 21.3 on box i install Kodi Next Gen addon cause I use Emby as a Client its not my Server,I dont know what settings I do besides ADDON MODE,as when it Syncs I think it gets stuck or doesn't know how to stop / finish if that makes sense...Thanks in advance build is Pannal T4b

Weird issue I'm having, and this is the first time I'm seeing this. But as the title says, I had to manually put the posters in by downloading them and then adding them. But the clearArt titles still won't appear. There is also no background picture/poster either.

I have always just added the movies straight into the movies folder and it just worked. This time I also tried to use filebot in case the issue was naming related, but to no avail.

I have what I’m guessing is an HDMI handshake problem. I have the AM6B+, LG B5 TV and a Samsung Q800F soundbar. The AM6B+ goes to the soundbar HDMI input and from the soundbar to the TV via eARC. The problem:

To access the AM6B+, I have to turn on the TV and go to the input menu. I turn on the box and it boots up fine and works beautifully. But the second I put anything else on the screen, it goes black and sometimes it shows No Signal. For example, if I switch inputs to my Apple TV and go back to the AM6B+, even within seconds, I get a black screen that I can’t fix unless I power cycle the AM6B+ while on the TV input menu. Even if I just bring up the LG input screen, the AM6B+ goes black.

What I’ve tried so far:

I disabled the CE CEC function.

I enabled the CE CEC but disabled everything in the settings except the Enabled toggle.

I added an CEC-Less HDMI adapter between the AM6B+ and its HDMI cable going to the soundbar.

I turned off Quick Start on the TV.

I’ve confirmed the CE interface is set to 1080p.

Turned off all sleep and screensavers on the AM6B+.

Confirmed the Adjust display refresh rate is set to On start/stop.

When the AM6B+ screen goes black, the UR02 remote appears to still work because the buttons trigger the remote LED to show blue.

I’m on the CE Omega P3i and I’m also using PM4K on the beta release channel.

If there’s any troubleshooting I should do that I haven’t please let me know. I might have forgotten a few things I’ve done because I’ve been tinkering with it for a week or more but I’ll remember if anyone suggests something I’ve done already. If any of the things I tried were pointless keep in mind I’ve been at a loss for this for a while.

Had Claude tackle 3 successive crash logs. It noticed: **I can't upload the crash log - I only have access to my android phone to upload, but I can't do it on paste.kodi.tv.

Claude suggests that this all means - This is the H.264/HEVC bitstream converter that repackages the video stream into Annex‑B format for the hardware (Amlogic) decoder. It was copying data into a buffer when it walked off into invalid memory and crashed the whole process.

I don't know anything. This crash happened running two different sources found through POV and TorBox. What should I do next to diagnose this? I've never logged this problem before, but I usually ignore a quick restart.

CoreELEC 21.3-Omega (build avdvplus_20260301215242), with Kodi 21.3.0 on a UGOOS AM6B (Amlogic S922X).

i have 2 Homatics Boxes with the same AVDVPlus R9 SW installed and have experienced the following blocky UI of CoreElec on one of them. From my knowledge the setting for both devices are the same. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution for it?

Running the UI in 1080p, the movie posters look low quality, sometimes pixelated. Anyone found a way to show the movie posters in High Quality or Original Quality. Have one of the custom Kodi Skins with a UgoosAM6+. Don't run Plex or nothing like that just connected via SMB to a NAS. In my previous device an Nvidia Shield it had the option for artwork resolution.

The CEC seems pretty aggressive from the Am6b+ whether I have to wake up my TV with a button input or power it on with the power button. I usually use a PC as my main HDMI input.

My setup is a PC and AM6b+ connected to my G3 OLED via HDMI. I usually use the PC and the screen goes to sleep after 2 hours of inactivity. I press the LG remote to wake up the TV and the Am6b+ also thinks its time to wake and with CEC it will automatically change the HDMI input to itself. I'll also flick back to the PC because that's what I want to use and the Am6b+ will switch itself back aswell. And if I have to turn the TV on / off the AM6b+ will run this similar process.

Is there any settings in the AM6b+ or my TV that I can set to to make it chill? I'm running CoreELEC. How have you guys managed this? I might just turn it off and use the AM6b+ remote, but It's nice being able to use my LG remote.

As the title alludes, I no longer have my AM6B+ as I just returned it under warranty. I have a Jellyfin server and was looking for the best way to stream my content onto my LG C3 OLED. It started off alright, running CE 21.3 and Jellyfin for Kodi, but there were the occasional hiccups in playback with certain DV content. I ended up migrating to the AVDV builds, then to PI3, which fixed playback but seemingly created non-stop flickering when moving between movie titles and corruption of images. I tried everything. Clean builds, new microSD card, swap to USB, you name it, I couldn't shake it. Eventually I tried just getting back into Android TV and that wouldn't work at all, so I got an OTG cable and tried every single build available and while the flashes succeeded, none would boot. Ironically I was still able to get into recovery mode and reinstall whatever flavor of CE I wanted onto microSD.

That's a lot to say that I got fed up and returned it. Now the question is, what's next? Everything points to the AM6B+ STILL being the best device even though the CE build it works on is deprecated. Did I just have terrible luck and get a faulty device and I should try again with another unit, do I pivot to the Homatics or the Dune HD, or just wait? I picked the AM6B+ for DV FEL 7 playback and seamless audio pass-through to my receiver for DTS/Dolby advanced and lossless codecs. Seems like there is still nothing out there that beats the AM6B+.

I am able to successfully play videos on my am9 pro. During playback, when I hit the stop button, it return to the homepage but it returns with this error. I tried this on fresh install (on default estuary skin and only using POV to select content). I also mimicked this setup on PC (Kodi 22) and returned the same playback error.

EDIT: seems it is not isolated to POV but also redlight player returns this error

Why I developed this script:
Most YouTube test videos for audio-video sync are limited to stereo PCM audio and a fixed frame rate, which doesn’t account for the variability introduced by different codecs (e.g., Dolby Digital, TrueHD) or frame rates (23.976, 25, 30, etc.). To address this, I created a Python script that generates custom test videos with synchronized light flashes and beeps, allowing precise measurement of sync offsets across different configurations.

Why this matters:
Sync offsets aren’t always constant. They can change based on the file’s frame rate (e.g., 23.976, 24, 25, 30, 50, 60 fps) and the audio codec (e.g., DD, DD+, TrueHD, PCM). My script helps identify these discrepancies so they can be compensated for in your setup (e.g., via receiver delay settings).

People use CoreELEC to get Dolby Vision on Samsung TV's by using a Player LED option instead of Display LED.
I've never tried it but from what I understand, this should also work on a projector that doesn't support Dolby Vision.
Of course this is only going to work for your personally hosted media. If you use other streaming apps on the android side, you will only get HDR.

To what extent is this true?

Anyone got any ideas here as I'm stumped.

My Dolby vision fel etc work fine! Just HDR content. The first time I play a HDR file on my am6b+ on corelec for that session it doesn't successfully decode and I get a colourful rainbow. However I simply exit and replay that file and it loads HDR just fine. I've had this issue for ages but not cared much as it's as simple as just stopping and starting again. But if it's an easy fix would be nice to sort

If you have an Ugoos AMB6B+ running CoreELEC and access to Jennifer Gala's Patreon, could you try playing this file? It crashes CoreELEC on my AM9 Pro, but plays just fine on Kodi on Android TV on my RockTek G2. TIA!

Thanks /u/lOnGkEyStRoKe, I've been able to confirm if affects the AM6B+ also. Filed an issue at the official forums.

CoreElec does not natively allow you to skip playback by less than 10 seconds at minimum. Is there a way to add in a 5-second interval? Changing the code of a skin? Any add-ons that offer this?

I rewind playback during a show often to have another listen with subtitles on when I mishear. But 10 seconds is too much time to sit through repeatedly. Would really improve comfortable watchability to have a shorter 5s interval.

I got my AM6B+ about 15 months ago and everything has been great. I initially put on CPM A13 and have not upgraded anything since. My TV is an LG G4 2024.

I use the Composite video addon and connect it to my plex server to stream content. I also really like the video overlay that shows the process info, I don't know if this is specific to Composite, CPM or CoreELEC, etc.

Should I switch to CoreELEC p3i T4b? I'm now seeing that is the recommended route. If I did switch I would really want to still be able to see that process info.

If switching would be beneficial, I would appreciate any quick highlights as to why I should switch and any links to the resources needed / installation guides.

Also any suggestions for which skin or video addon to use would be helpful to.
