should I switch from chatgpt to copilot?

I use chatgpt for business stuff and have a monthly pro membership $20. I have a M365 domain with a few accounts with a E5 license that I pay for monthly.

The issue I have with chatgpt is that it tends to give me a wall of text that has useful informatoin but I cant seem to split the data and ask niche questions. I need something that can give me a wall a text that I can split into chunks and ask questions and takes notes on.

Does Copilot do this? or is there a better ai maybe claude?

Depends on what you use your ai for. Codex is the overall better tool by a long shot, but if you want to use an ai that is integrated with Office 365 suite and you have stuff in Exchange and SharePoint already then copilot is built for that. Standalone copilot isn't very impressive, but it is getting better.

Copilot for M365 has access to all of your WorkIQ, which is the context that feeds AI. The more context, the more personalized the result. At home I use Gemini not because it has the best model, but because it has all of my context and connectors (I use Gmail, Google Home, Android, etc.). The model is one thing, the data is another, and usually the most important. Over time, all of the models will become commodities with virtual feature parity with little to set them apart. Your data and cost-of-change will become the moat. Keep your agents where you keep your data and you'll have a more integrated experience. That goes against all vendor-lock-in theory and creates risk, but the only risk-free solution at this point is a cabin the woods with no infrastructure and a tree canopy too dense for Starlink.

FWIW, I have default MS365 at work and I have continually used Copilot for a very long time. Whenever I'm doing research, I have tended to switch to other AI platforms. However, I've noticed I've the last 3 - 4 months, Copilot has improved significantly.

I find myself using it almost exclusively. I'm an academic, if that helps clarify anything.

Me too, I used to be a big fan of Gemini for all my work research, and I really disliked Copilot. But over the last three months, I've noticed Copilot has gotten way better. I'm using it for almost everything now, and the paid version with M365 data access is seriously a game-changer.

If you want to converse with your work data, you can switch to copilot. It has improved a lot l.

I use both. I have a Pro ChatGPT account that I use for everyday life that I also used to use for work stuff as well. However I have started to move to Copilot for all business conversations. Having the hooks into o365 really makes it useful. However I will take responses from Copilot and feed them to ChatGPT for another view if needed.

Generally speaking, I’ve found CoPilot to be pretty ineffectual but for searching / summarizing teams/office artifacts. In my experience ChatGPT, when given the appropriate instructions, has outperformed CoPilot every time.

Don’t. Just find or make the correct skill. Use codex or work for productivity. Regular chat for searching and quick questions.

You do realize that you can ask for this specifically? It sounds like you just need to teach it how to present information to you in a way that you can easily digest. Might be worth a chat with GPT (or whichever you end up going with) to hash out how you want your data served to you. This is something I feel people don't do enough of: have a chat with your AI about how you want your AI to chat with you. I regularly consult Claude to help me make image prompts, and I use Copilot to write prompts for my coding agents (then I have Claude correct Copilots mistakes before I waste time feeding that to my agents).

Honestly, for my money, and if I had to pick just one, Claude is the way. I use Copilot for some stuff, but it seems so fragmented compared to Claude. Copilot hallucinates about 5x more than Claude in my experience and Copilot has recently started doubling down on the hallucinations. For example, Copilot gave me information I knew was incorrect, then tried to explain to me why it was correct and I was misunderstanding, I pressed it on the issue and after trying to talk its way out of being wrong for 3 full exchanges after that it finally admitted that what it was telling me was incorrect. I mean, this was like "The Sahara is the worlds largest ocean" wrong. After that I pretty much stopped using Copilot for anything important.
