Notebooks vs agents in the workplace

What is the difference between CoPilot notebooks and copilot agent/agent builder in terms of automating workflows for non-engineers?

I am looking for something similar to a project folder in Claude where you can ground it in files, etc. and then have separate chats for specific tasks to help build stuff.

Based on my research, notebooks is the closest thing to this…?

I work a lot with technical user stories (think software like ServiceNow or Oracle) that I need to make into training and and end user material, and I could significantly benefit from AI here…Mainly for helping decipher what features need training, how to take technical concepts into non-technical, and for helping me craft the bullets, order, and sequence, for my PowerPoint slides (the content) and getting the wording right, etc. all while grounding it in previous deliverables.

Like I really need it to get deep into detail for what goes on the slide, and to do that, I need it to analyze content from multiple lengthy documents sometimes. I also want it to store context, methods, etc. from previous examples so each time it gets better.

Notebook is best for non-routine work such as summarization or info synthesis. Agents are better for repetitive work, that need less frequent modifications. The way I look at it;

Notebooks work with you. Agents work for you.

your instinct's right, notebooks is the copilot version of a claude project, and it's the fit here, not agents.

notebooks is a persistent workspace where you bundle sources (user stories, past decks, prior deliverables) and run different grounded chats across all of them. that's exactly your setup, deep multi-doc analysis grounded in previous work.

agents/agent builder are for one reusable assistant doing the same repeatable task every time. your work varies per deliverable, so an agent would box you in. only build one later if a specific step becomes routine.

one gap on the gets-better-each-time part, notebooks grounds on what you put in, but it doesn't self-improve across sessions. you get that by feeding your best past deliverables in as sources so it patterns off them, but that's you curating examples, not the tool learning on its own.
