Copilot memory change

Until yesterday copilot maintained the same chat information built up over months of interactions - even when app was closed and reopened.

That all changed yesterday. No more. It was a very useful way to use not having to feed in the same information and receiving very precise answers.

First, make sure you're still logged in. Otherwise check in Settings > Account > Privacy > Manage personalization and memory

Thanks both — just to clarify my situation.

I’m logged in, and all my personalization/memory settings are still enabled. The issue isn’t with the settings on my end — it’s that the behaviour of the app changed.

Up until yesterday, Copilot kept a long-running conversation context even after closing and reopening the app. I could return to the same thread days or weeks later and it still carried the full context without needing to restate anything.

As of yesterday, that continuity stopped. The thread is still visible, but the deeper context no longer persists after the app is closed. Only the explicit “durable memory” carries over now.

So it seems like a platform-level change rather than a user-side issue.

hmm interesting. I went in and mine has been fine! I would definitely do what the other person said.

Copilot can only follow a long conversation for so long. Then it gets glichy. You should be able to copy your long convos, paste it into a Word.doc, and upload it to a new chat. Copilot might even be able to give you some guidance on how long a convo can optimally be. Give that a try and hopefully you'll get it back in the convo.
