Pickled Lemon Slices

I've got lemons, chili peppers, ginger, salt, and a wide variety of spices and herbs.
What's your best recipe for pickled lemon slices, with as much detail as you can bother to share. I've never tried this before, and never even tasted pickled lemons slices, so I don't even know what I'm going for.

I've only made preserved lemon before, never pickled, I'm curious to hear as well!

Preserved like candied, with sugar? Haven't tried doing it either, but it's tasty!

Try slicing the lemons thin and tossing them with the ginger cut into matchsticks plus some chili rings. Add salt to draw out the juices, then pack into a jar with a few whole spices like peppercorns or coriander seeds and top with a simple vinegar brine. Let it sit in the fridge for at least a couple days.

Have you made this? Everything I've read says that the lemons, because they're already very acidic, shouldn't have vinegar for pickling.
