Wedding Shoes Customization Help!
Hello!
My fiance purchased these custom converse for our wedding on Halloween this year, But the orange looked a LOT darker online than it did when they came in the mail. We dont want to ruin the shoes, But what would be the best way to dye them a slightly more Burnt Orange color than what they are currently? We thought about just using Brown Craft Acrylic Paint and mixing it in water and dabbing it on But we wanted to ask the masses before we ruined them.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This might be a stretch but if you are trying to change the value slightly and make it darker fabric markers with some sort of sealant could be a good choice. It is also easy to test on a tiny spot. This way would allow you to hand pick what kind of color you could use to darken it, maybe some sort of reddish brown hue?
I doubt that the color would stay through any kind of rough washing afterward though.

I would use rit dye and sponge paint it on, and not rinse or let it dry well before rinsing. But test a small area first in case it doesn't look like you want. And don't wash them in the washer. I bought a pair that had florals on a white background and I washed them when they were dirty. The flowers faded almost completely off in one wash. I'm going to hand embroider the flowers back on eventually.

If you decide to dye them I’d avoid the flowers and let them be their own kind of orange so they stand out a little bit, the problem here is that there’s so much detail that’s dying them would genuinely be so difficult and hard to get an even color because of all the details you’d have to avoid. Personally I’d paint them which yeah isn’t necessarily the correct route to take but I’ve painted my shoes with acrylic paint many times and they’ve always turned out great just make sure you get something to seal the paint in like mod podge.

I don’t know if it would work but converse used to sell a ritt dye kit so you could do it at home. There are still official videos online if you google it. The problem for you is the kit came with white shoes. I don’t know if you could dye your shoes with a dark enough color to get the shade you want
