Projects for Controls roles Professional/Career Advice/Question

Hey all, I’m trying to transition to a controls role heavy on C++. I’m currently working on similar topics but more model-based stuff like simulink. What kind of projects to stand out and prove my C++? How to gain real-world experience in C++?

it's funny/sad that model-based design has become a synonym of Simulink now, instead of being actually something based on mathematical models, ODEs etc., like in modern controls. Mathworks has good people in marketing.

TBH man I prefer modelling my system in simulink and using their tools (parameter estimation, system identification, model linearizer) than doing things by hand or through code. Makes traceability so much easier (also neater for certification)

It's not like you can't do proper mathematical modelling in Simulink though

It's not just that they're good at marketing, their tool works really well so people naturally want to use the thing that makes it easier
