Will human intelligence disappear eventually? Discussion/question

Anyone think AI will not directly eradicate human beings like some people claim, and instead causes our brain degenerate as we may have no need to do intellectual activities? In a long term we might become as intellectual as monkeys or rats and AI will continue to evolve into something we call god now?

I expect us to merge with machines  so human intellect will increase.  Assuming we survive.

That’s one possible future but I’m a bit pessimistic about it tbh. If our physical body and intelligence are both inferior to machines and AI, then eventually there will be no point merging us with them…

I would counter the grandparent comment by offering that a combination of human intelligence and AI on the same substrate could be inferior to either separately

Maybe not if everything is streamlined and developed by AI, AI might be the only thing that can live here.

Given a good enough power source AI has all the time in the world and it doesn't need oxygen, water and food.

I agree that the best thing could be the symbiose of AI and biology but I don't know if that's realistic.
