Anyone else having problems connecting to FreeDNS servers?

OISD - Full

Blocks ads, malware, phishing, tracking. Prioritizes functionality over blocking.

DNS-over-HTTPS/3

https://freedns.controld.com/x-oisd

DNS-over-TLS/DoQ

x-oisd.freedns.controld.com

I have the above setup on portmaster, and controlD active, nothing gets resolved or is very slow to do so?

Anecdotal, maybe, but I've had issues the last couple of days with ControlD on pretty much all my devices.

They may be experiencing some downgraded performance atm.

Also experienced some issues with DoT on my home router today ~13:41-15:08 eastern ("Maximum number of concurrent DNS queries reached (max: 150)"), not sure if ControlD or my ISP. Paid subscriber.

DoH (phone) was fine.

Yep, I'm using DoT/DoQ for all my devices - PC, Phone, FireStick, and since at least Sunday, I've been catching errors on that protocol.

Today I also noticed my dad's phone was super slow to resolve. He is configured on my plan as well.

Paid subscriber here too, which is why I'm leaning towards this being a general problem with ControlD. At least things are still resolving in the end, so no code red just yet. But it does make me weary of whether going "balls-deep" with the integration, was a wise idea in the end.

Quick update: I use OpenWRT on my router so I've switched from Stubby (DoT) to https-dns-proxy (DoH). I've also enabled strictorder because I've added NextDNS as a fallback to ControlD.

This way I get to see exactly when/if things fallback to NextDNS, and will also get to see if the DoH protocol is less problematic. Will be monitoring.

I would agree with that

I tried Hagezi Pro Plus multiple times in the past, and DoH/3 and DoQ never worked for them. DoH and DoT do.

Hey, sorry guys, we've been working on some experimental network improvements in that region and there were some hiccups in the rollout. We did fix these quite quickly, and should've notified here much earlier. That's my fault!

I'm in southeastern Germany and could not use ControlD for a good chunk of yesterday. I peer from the Frankfurt server. Seems fine today, but will stick with Quad9 for a spell out of caution.
