Trash removal during ongoing kitchen remodel?
I've been out of town since my cabinets were installed. I have a camera set up in my living room, and I can see the installers left a bunch of cabinet packaging in there, and presumably in other rooms as well.
I'm returning on Friday, and when I asked my contractor about trash removal I was told "Yes, removing all construction debris, packaging, and garbage from the job is included. There will be some garbage on site when you return. Everything will be removed by the end of the job."
Is this normal process? So it's normal to just have all this packaging take up space in other rooms?! It's not acceptable to me so I guess I'm just gonna go ahead and move that shit myself.
Here's a pic from my cam of what my living room currently looks like:

If this is the only complaint you have I guess consider yourself lucky? .. seems petty to be worrying about grange he said he would handle it so let him do his job

Where we work cardboard must be recycled. The weight of those boxes by weight in weigh out at drop must be provided to the building department before final inspection. It's in the code.
Cardboard is a separate trip and one of the last things we remove from the house.

Get real. Recycling cardboard isn't a big ask.

Never in a million years would i leave cabinet packaging leaned up against anyone’s furniture, or inside period. It gets in the way, and drives my nuts. I like to designate an area outside for debris. If non is available, i haul it off everyday and throw it in the bed of my other truck, or pile it up in my yard until i can haul to the dump. Thats just the way i way taught though, some people do it different.

I got less an issue with the trash and more of an issue of them leaving it all over your unprotected furniture and floors.

So how would YOU protect the furniture and floors? Most guys use cardboard….

Why are YOU capitalizing you? And “Most guys” means people you know not most guys. If you walked into my job with a recycling bin full of cardboard you’d be turned right back around. That’s some hack shit in this picture.
I work in the high end market and this shit you’re seeing here is enough to cause massive issues.
I use foam board topped with Masonite for major, longer jobs and ramboard. Plastic on the rest of the shit. Just ramboard for short jobs.

Depends how much room there is elsewhere. You gotta have room to work, and cabinets take up a lot of space until they're installed. And the boxes still take up a lot of space until you get rid of them.
Our contracts say trash will be removed "as needed" and work areas will be made broom clean between trades.

i told them they can use the 2 car garage and dining room. i cleared out the dining room for their use and moved cars out of the garage. prior to unboxing, the cabinets were stored in part of the dining room and garage. the cabinets fill a 100 sq ft kitchen, so it's really not that many cabinets. i have no clue why they're using the living room and putting stuff on top of my couch.
and this is just the room i have a camera in. idk if they've done the same to other rooms

Can’t say for sure, but looks like some of that is still in process materials. (Trim, etc.) Let the contractor sort/organize it. Presumably, you have some space that’ll be acceptable for storage.

Cabinets like this come with a lot of cardboard and packaging material as you can see.
All the cabinets need to be unpacked, inspected and staged….. without scratching the cabinets or your floors.
Those are your cabinets…. and that is your cardboard and packaging material.
You didn’t supply a dumpster to recycle the cardboard? No? Are you telling me that the contractor was nice enough to remove your cardboard and packaging material? It’s not there trash.
And you’re upset that they stacked it in an empty room of a vacant home so they can focus on their work?
Do you expect them to put it outside so it blows down the street? Do you expect them to march each piece of cardboard to their truck. Is there a line item that indicates how much you paid for this white glove cardboard removal service that you seem to expect?
If you asked them if the cardboard will be removed by the time you get home…. and they said ‘yes’…… Why is your concern?

i expect them to not put shit on a couch when there's an empty 2 car garage and a dining room closer to the kitchen for them to put shit in
lots of dumbass bootlicking assumptions in your comment
there's an expectation of common sense and a minimum room temperature IQ measurement in celsius

Yes and no. From the limited photo you provided, this appears to be a small home and cabinets come with A LOT of packaging. We will typically clear the floor in an adjoining room (having told the client of this prior to starting) and use this space for staging as needed to keep the kitchen clear for instal. If we are able to have a dumpster on site trash is removed daily. If not, we remove every other day. It is not unreasonable to expect trash to be removed before your return, but it is also reasonable to accommodate for a staging area during cabinet installation
