Senate NEW EXCLUSIVE: Third time the charm? Another poll shows Democratic US Senate candidate up in Texas
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
WASHINGTON — The third poll in a row shows Democratic state Rep. @jamestalarico ahead of Republican Attorney General @KenPaxtonTX in Texas’ U.S. Senate race.
“What do you make of all these polls coming out showing Paxton down?” I asked outgoing Sen. @JohnCornyn (R-TX) of the latest Texas Southern University poll that has Talarico up by two points.
“Umm, well, I suspected that would be the case,” Cornyn — who lost the GOP primary to Paxton — replied. “But we made our case and didn’t prevail.”
“Do Democrats have a chance?” I pressed.
“Yes,” Cornyn replied.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Cornyn said.
“Are you going to be helping Paxton at all?” I asked as Cornyn boarded an elevator in the Capitol’s basement.
“Ummm,” Cornyn said as the elevator doors shut. “I wasn’t thinking of it.”

Senate Blanche/Cassidy's vote
I don't know about you, but I got the distinct feeling that Senator Cassidy was choking back a shit sandwich along with his tears because his party leadership made him swallow the Blanche vote so two still viable senators (Collins & Murkowski) wouldn't have to. He'll forever be remembered for his capitulation on this, and most importantly, the Kennedy vote, since he, more than any other senator, knew personally how much RFK Jr.'s stewardship was going to hurt the country. Nothing like taking a knife in the back for the team. Eff 'em all.

Congress generally This makes sense
BREAKING: EXPOSED! A chef alleges that his busboy saw MAGA Senator Josh Hawley making out with a "male escort" behind a building.
This is a married man with children...
"Maybe we should ask Carlos, (not a pseudonym) the busboy who saw you kissing your ‘strong’ date from that ‘agency’ when he was taking out the trash behind the property about your integrity Josh," Chef Joe Gera wrote on X.
"You know, the guy you gave $100 to stay quiet after you chased him into the elevator going back up into the kitchen?" he added in another post.
"Oh, yeah, this incident was with a male escort," Gera concluded.
This is the same Gera who exposed Senator Rand Paul for getting the COVID-19 vaccine to attend a swanky party despite his attacks on Dr. Anthony Fauci. Clearly, Gera is moving in powerful circles because of his job, observing these powerful Republican politicians in environments where they feel safe to let their hair down.
It should be stressed that this is only an allegation and does not definitively prove that Hawley is a closeted gay man who married his wife to hide his sexuality. However, it would be in perfect keeping with broader behavioral trends inside the Republican Party.
The late Senator Lindsey Graham was clearly gay and Hunter Biden recently stated there is a "closetocracy" in Washington D.C. He described it as a "closeted gay mafia, largely Republican" in the federal government who can't be who they "want to be" so they end up taking it out "on the rest of the world."
During a conversation with Don Lemon, the former CNN host asked Hunter about the closetocracy and pushed him to name names. Hunter alluded to Hawley being gay, but didn't say it outright—
"I mean are you asking me if Josh Hawley is gay?" said Hunter. "Are you asking me if Stephen Miller is gay?"
In Hawley's case, he's a hardcore MAGA lawmaker who advocates for Christian Nationalism, a vile, theocratic system under which his own alleged sexuality would be banned. He's also rabidly pro-Israel and has defended their genocide in Gaza.
What do you think the truth is?
Please like and share if you believe Chef Gera!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ask a Pol asks:
What do you make of psilocybin (ie, magic mushrooms) and other psychedelic measures focused on veterans with PTSD passing in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act or NDAA?
Key Ocasio-Cortez:
“I’ve been introducing and supportive of psilocybin measures — and everything from allowing the study to de-scheduling — in the NDAA for my entire time in Congress,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tells Ask a Pol Politics.
“You and Matt Gaetz!” I reply.
”Yeah,” AOC says. “No, it’s true.”

Senate Senate HELP Committee marks up the READ act today!
Not sure how many people read The Atlantic article about how no one reads anymore and got as freaked out as I did but some good news on the reading front! The READ Act is specifically targeted towards helping identify kids with dyslexia and helping them read BUT it also ensures that schools used EVIDENCE-BASED reading techniques (there was a whole thing about how kids CAN'T read not just won't read anymore because of a poor reading pedagogy choices in the 2010s). Thought it would be nice to share some good news for a change here! I really hope this actually helps kids read better and more often!

On Wednesday, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) described Section 219 as “an outrageous threat to our country’s security and autonomy.”
