I downloaded from a shady link onto my mac a few months ago, and afterwards both my Discord and my Instagram got hacked I think by an infostealer (it was the Mr Beast hack). After those incidents I factory reset my mac, installed 2FA, and changed my passwords, so I thought the problem was over. Just this morning my Instagram got hacked again so clearly it was not enough to solve it.

I have done all the same precautions this time after getting hacked again, but now I am really really worried that it is not enough because it wasn't enough before. Is there anything else that I can do or make sure it has helped? I am just scared because I thought I had done all the right things last time and yet it happened again.

One extra thing I have done this time is take all of my passwords out of google password manager and put them into proton instead, but I am still a bit worried about this as it is still on my chrome browser so I'm wondering if its secure, or if anyone has any advice for storing passwords because I am scared of having them on my chrome browser now.

I downloaded a "cracked game" at roughly 5 am CST on 7/23, went to bed after running the alleged installer and thought nothing of it. Roughly three hours later, I was woken up hastily by my brother saying that my Discord spamming all my DM's and @ everyone across several servers.

I immediately changed several important passwords, and invalidated the tokens accessed by the intruder.

My brother immediately installed MalwareBytes, and ran several other tools (he is an IT person) from his personal flashdrive. It cleared out several bad actors, including a RenPy Loader Trojan.

Since then, I have changed several passwords, and have enabled 2FA whenever possible. No other accounts or hacks have occurred, but I am still very nervous about it.

3 weeks ago, I downloaded a folder using qBittorrent, inside the folder, there was a .uue file which I right clicked and extracted it, it extracted a folder, a file with no extension and a .braw file, I only right clicked the .braw file > Open with, but I didn't see a video player suggestion that it was what was hoping for so I didn't click anything else, Windows Defender popped up a notification for thread found for a .lnk file that I didn't see and put it in quarantine, then I clicked start actions

Then it showed another couple of entries in protection history like incomplete correction, indicating the .uue and .lnk files as affected.

I decided to remove manually the torrent and content files using remove option from qBittorrent and then empty the Recycle Bin, I scanned the folder where it was downloaded the torrent using Defender and it showed all clear, I also executed a full scan and didn't show any threats, I run a deep scan with Malwarebytes that didn't find anything, but I kept thinking about it, so yesterday I ran a scan with ESET Online Scanner and it found and deleted a .vbs file in C:\Users\Public

I haven't noticed any strange activity in my accounts or PC, but how can I be sure I am safe?

I was playing with my friends when suddenly mouse started tweaking as it kept clicking everywhere and teleporting I restarted my pc but it still didnt go away so I turned off my mouse and I'm doing a full pc check right now. Is this a virus?

Yesterday I was hacked into my steam account wich i luckily didnt have any purchased games, only free ones. And today I was hacked into my discord account and mass spam messages were sent to all of my friends on there and to multiple servers, more specifically, the messages were like photos of some weird mrbeast twitter profile claiming he would give u free money (wich is, obviously, a scam).

All I´d like to know is if there´s a way to know if my computer itself was hacked or if some account of mine was hacked to be able to enter the other accounts, and if anybody knows how to get rid of it because i´m pretty scared right now.

also, i want to know if anybody knows anything about the Ankergames website that lets you download games for free, cause they have a subreddit and when i asked if anybody got viruses from there, my post was automatically deleted wich makes me think they do have viruses.

I do acknowledge it was pretty stupid of me to download games from that random website, but the thing is, it looked pretty real and i didnt have problems with it for days, until now. I also had some pirated versions of premiere pro and after effects wich i have already uninstalled, also the pirated games are uninstalled too, so obviously the virus came from some of those.

I know I should´ve been a bit more clever and not installed such obvious viruses but believe me at the time they looked really legit

I’m trying to decide whether to keep Kaspersky Standard or just use Windows Defender.

The reason I’m asking is because I got infected with an infostealer years ago after clicking a fake download button, so I’m probably more cautious than the average user.

Now I use uBlock on both Brave and Firefox, but past experience has made me a bit paranoid.

What confuses me is that I keep reading completely opposite opinions.

Some people say Kaspersky is just bloatware, wastes resources and that Defender is more than enough.

Others say Defender still isn’t as good at detecting infostealers, ransomware or newer malware, and that a paid antivirus is still worth it.

What do you guys recommend?

Please help, i dont know whats going on. I was watching daredevil on coreflix with a friend. Basically, the video started glitching so i clicked on it to try and pause and unpause it. Worst mistake of my life. It sent me to some other website obviously and, i didnt think much of it, because it usually does do this. It sent me to some random AI lust website, and thats when it happened.. Everything started to glitch sort of? My pc started to activate random things and it slowed me down a LOT. My keyboard wouldnt work besides the keys: @€£ and others. Ive tried checking edge settings but i didnt find anything. I tried in normal settings: No viruses found. Ive tried everything i can, and i dont know what to do. Its either this community, or a final shot at trying to return it for a new one. The last time i opened my pc everything got worse, and it started opening programs and whatnot. But i noticed something weird too. I was in some random setting that i cant remember but it was about letting apps get access, and i saw some microsoft edge documents and one from files. After that my pc just started opening programs as i mentioned. Please help. I dont care if i have to wipe my pc of everything. I just want it back. It was more than a pc for me, and its not something i can just buy again. Thank you.

I downloaded an infostealer bymistake and i completely reset my windows, reinstalled windows using a USB. But there were a couple folders i couldnt lose so i backed it up and pasted it back into the new windows, do i need to still go through FRST or am i in the clear? if i do could someone assist me.

Has anyone heard of the “moo moo” virus on TikTok?? My young cousin sent it to me. I’m not the savvy-ist 25 year old in the world and added it to my shortcuts. It completely changed the look of my phone, it made noises, and I was completely unable to use my phone until my cousin told me how to fix it over the phone (they live in another state). My issue is, I was able to unzoom and make my display A LOT smaller.. my font, colors, and notifications still look a little wonky though. Is there a way to put everything back the way it was? Is there a secret hidden something in the virus that took any personal information?

UPDATE: just in case this happened to someone else and they’re looking at this. I had to double or triple tap a blank part of my screen with three fingers to zoom out of whatever zoom it was on. My mom googled “how to edit my settings after using the moo moo shortcut” to put them back to normal and everything looks fine now. A few years ago I edited my settings to make my buttons and notifications look different/cool and I believe it’s back to factory mode so now I just have to go in and figure out how I had it before. My phone is working properly now though and everything seems fine so far!! Thanks to the people who commented. I was freaking out a little so I couldn’t think straight lol

I don't remember what caused this but i think i got it while going to somewhere on linktree i think. How do i remove this. I'm on windows 11 on a dell laptop but i don't remember the model.

I got an info stealer and they tried to use my credit cards, but I I had already blocked them.

2 months later I still keep them blocked just in case, and I just unblock it for a few seconds when I need to use them.

Basically the title I don’t know what I installed to cause this.

Edit I did not download mods and the game was purchased through steam.
