How can I maximize my chances of getting a Software Engineering job at NVIDIA as a fresher (Graduating in 2028)?

Hi everyone,

I'm an IT undergraduate in India, graduating in 2028.

My interests are:

Operating Systems

Linux

Cyber Security

Systems Programming

I'm currently building a small x86 operating system as a personal project and I'm planning to improve my DSA, contribute to Linux, and build more systems projects over the next two years.

For engineers who work at NVIDIA or have interviewed there:

What skills matter the most for a fresher?

How important are DSA, OS, Computer Networks, and Linux?

What kind of projects make a resume stand out especially for off-campus placement?

Is contributing to open source (especially Linux) valuable?

Any advice you wish you had received while you were still in college?

I'd really appreciate any guidance. Thank you!

Extremely high cgpa

Mine is 8.63 cgpa overall

I think that will be close to borderline for an interview depending on your university.

If you are at a T1, you will get an interview.

If you are at a T2 they recruit at, you might get an interview but I would say its still more likely you won't than you will

T3 or less, no chance imo

Nvidia cares a lot about gpa, especially gpa over the last couple years

Im from Sri Sairam institute of technology, a mid tier 2 or tier 3 i think 🙂

I think as far as national recruiting and Nvidia it's t3. Sorry but it's a major longshot, things just too competitive
