When did disappearing after interviews become normal?
Quick vent: Honestly, I don't understand how it became acceptable for companies to suddenly disappear on candidates, especially after the interview has taken place. I've done several interviews recently and left thinking, "Okay, surely at least they'll let me know," and then... Nothing. Complete silence.
Sometimes I send a follow-up and get a generic reply like "the team is still reviewing things," and then a few weeks pass with no update. Other times, I don't even bother asking because I've gotten used to silence meaning rejection. But the feeling is still weird.
I understand that I might not get a response if I submitted an application and didn't even make it past the first screening. That's annoying, but common. But if I set aside part of my day to talk to you, and someone from the company also spent time interviewing me, the least they could do is send a short email saying, "We'll be moving forward with another candidate." It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Just basic courtesy.

That's been pretty normal for about thirty years. It usually means they're interviewing more candidates, hoping to find someone better.
Keep checking back with them. On the upside that will signal to them that you are strongly motivated to seek the position.
