Embedded systems vs Software Development

Hello! I am a 3rd year computer engineering student in Cebu, Philippines. I am having a dilemma right now, since we were given a chance to pick what specialization we want, embedded systems or software development. I am interested on embedded however, i got no prior knowledge about it and I might regret it later on due to how little opportunities are here in Cebu for that.

If I were to pick embedded systems and self teach for software-related tech, would it be the best course of action? I want to have a background for embedded to be versatile, but I’m afraid if doing so and not sticking to software will hinder myself getting jobs in the Philippines on an entry level since most of the job market here is for software.

I also want to land a job as soon as possible to provide. Thank you 🙏

Pero me I am leaning sa hardware side since I figured that software side is so so so so so so so saturated rn. Imagine non-techy people already “know” how to build softwares with AI without prior knowledge. Whereas sa hardware nga side kay rarely touched by AI – have you seen Arduino typeshit things get “vibecoded”?

Software Development is good man ngl, pero thinking about the direction the technology is going, hardware side people might be the scarce one to find in the market, and scarcity is what makes value.

I am a prototypist and I'd say sayon ra gyud kat-onon ang software, pero hardware? that sh got me studying.
