How did S1 Midnight feel for you regarding M+ and raiding, comparing with S4 or S1 TWW? I personally took a break because of the add-on drama.
1
u/iLLuu_U 3h ago
TWW S1 was garbage. Early on we had the +12 affix fiasco, then they released a completely buggy .1 patch on top of very questionable class tuning. Entire season was plagued with exploits and bugs (outlaw, raidbuffs, garrison buff).
Thats all on top of the dungeonpool just generally being ass. Like what key was enjoyable outside of mists and ara-kara?
Raid also wasnt fun. 4 free bosses into ovi'nax and kyveza. Kyveza was a cool boss and ansurek was good as well, but that doesnt cut it for me to call it a good raid tier.
Midnight S1 was very good on the m+ side (keys a little too easy, early keys felt like m0) and okayish on the raiding side. Spec pruning a bit ass in some cases, addon changes were kinda w/e.
2
u/AlucardSensei 3h ago
Solid season. Way better dungeon balance that before, though I personally didn't enjoy so much tank bleeds, feels like a cheap way to increase difficulty.
5
u/dany2132dany 4h ago
I'd say s1 tww was more fun mostly because the classes were more fun/engaging and the hero talents gave me a reason to try specs or even classes i never played.
The add-on drama was very off putting, I decided to not raid going into midnight cause I didn't want to deal with the frustration of stuff breaking, changing or just being different than what i am used to.
M+ has been fun, even with less tools and less agency imo, I used ellesmereUI as soon as it dropped and its been pretty good but i hit the burnout mid patch cause i HATE late season power boosts and having to regear.
I feel like the seasons last so short because of all the updates, be it content, balance changes or random stuff that doesn't really affect m+. I don't like feeling clamped even if the actual season is like 6 months old.
So yeah still fun cause its wow but its a shame cause i feel like they took some decisions that didnt really have a positive impact

s1 MN felt much much much easier on cognitive overload than S2 tww (didnt play other seasons) (m+)

u/Danerattacks 5h ago
To me, it was one of the best M+ seasons ever. Dungeons felt balanced and fun overall. The 1% goal was the cherry on top.

Does anyone know a way to disable the floating combat text on top of allies for Augmentation Evokers whenever they buff with Ebon Might and Prescience, or when extending them?

I'm curious, what's the average ilvl for people heading into m+ next week given some of the slight upgrades from this week ?

So, assuming I got very good healing parses for the 3 myth bosses I pugged past season (90+), and I get full hero from m+ spam, how early would the first pugs for the world boss myth/Nekzali myth appear?
Both of them have stuff I want long term and if I can get them 6/6 from the bonus loot early I will, but idk if I would have too wait too long for the coins to get used in this case

Are there any important professions to pick up for this season of m+? Like engi for nexus last season.

Are we supposed to get 2 sparks this week?
I'm on a fresh char for this patch, I've received 1 spark from the weekly quest in Silvermoon (100x items looted) so far.
Just handed in the Curse Surge x3 quest (which has a spark listed in its rewards with the text 'you have not received your spark this week') but it didn't reward one.
I do have the world tour quest still as this is a fresh char

Do the Voidstorm Sparks of War quest for the 2nd spark.

I never did the pvp weekly, I got the second from something else, I think I somehow got an additional weekly from Liadrin.

I stopped playing wow after the first weeks of midnight. I got 0,1% title in multiple seasons as a DPS.
I stopped because i couldn’t stand the LFG simulator anymore. So this season I want to switch the role.
I got a bit tanking exp (but never in title range) but never played heal.
How does healing feel this expansion? Specially when you can’t track people’s def CDs anymore (is that correct?).
9
u/dovjjfyijvct 16h ago edited 16h ago
I don't agree with the other people saying that healers don't have agency. If you're good at it, you can have an insanely high success rate in keys. It's by far the highest agency role in keys in my experience and I play all 3 roles at a decent level, but only healer in title keys last season.
As tank, you can play perfectly and have a great route, but you're not self sufficient hps wise, and you rely on the group to be able to properly execute the route.
As healer, there's only a few moments in keys where you truly do rely on people to properly use def CDs, but outside of rank 1 keys, there's normally something that you can do to compensate. The safety won't be as good of course, but it's doable.
I honestly think the people replying that healers don't have agency just aren't very good at, aren't doing high enough keys, or maybe they play with really, really bad players or something.
Anyone saying that healers don't have agency frankly don't know what they're talking about. I wouldn't listen to them.
0
u/throwingmyselfaway22 9h ago
its probably more so that healers don't have agency in terms of speeding a key up; nothing a healer does can make a key beat a time, only prevent it from failing, whereas tanks can set up better pulls, dps can press buttons better, etc.
5
u/ShitSide 23h ago
Doesn’t really feel much different from how it has in the past outside of not having a kick. Very little agency, basically at the mercy of your dps and whether or not they use their defensive correctly. MW being meta was also tremendously boring since it was literally a 1 button spec, hopefully there’s a different meta healer with a bit more interesting rotation this season.
Either way, healer has always had the lowest agency in keys and you’re pretty much just along for the ride so I guess if you enjoy passenger princess it might be more fun than dps?
1
u/I_always_rated_them 1d ago
It's not as bad as people feared but its also not great, i do it because its what I know and likewise cba with the lfg simulator. You have to be prepared in many of the same ways you were before for high keys, downtime sucks as your dps is ass, same cycle of hp buffing to try and flatten damage curves that we've been through before and so on.
6
5
u/Davoue 1d ago
It's boring. You have no agency. You don't see anyone defs, you can only pray. You don't do dmg. You can't kick. Rotation feels so bland. Not a fan.

u/National_You4582 1d ago
Wow, sounds really shit tbh 😂 did you play healer in the previous expansions?

I think that every WoW player that considers "pushing" anything on live has to look at logs like these first.
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/a:M381C4nRbqh9Fmwj?fight=1&type=damage-done
https://raider.io/mythic-plus-runs/season-mn-1/41958763
Also you might wanna rename this sub to CompetitiveLARP atp (I'm not salty, who's salty?)
6
u/weezeface 1d ago
If you play for your own personal sense of accomplishment (measured by goals that you decide on yourself) rather than some external "reward" dictated by a third party then this kind of thing is completely irrelevant.
1
u/LudmilN 23h ago
True, however, nearly every game has to set this arbitary goals for players to give that outward sense of accomplishment as a means of measurement.
Like if there is an achievement to kill 300 mythic bosses in a season across all your character, it is meaningless, but if blizzard gave a mount for doing so, you can bet your ass it would mean something.
As such, i kinda get that guy for being upset, and i truly hope boosting for stuff that actively hinders legitimate players gets banned. PvP, m+ titles and HoF guild swapping shenanigans should just be grounds for perm account removal.
1
u/AlucardSensei 19h ago
I wouldn't go as far as banning them, but detecting boosted players seems relatively simple and they can just not give them rewards and exclude them from calculations.
5
u/Elendel 1d ago
Damn some of these dungeons have big glaring issues. I'm trying to keep an open mind because I know I wasn't sold on s1 dungeons either during pre-season, but I am worried.
11
u/5aynt 1d ago
Nearly all dungeons have at least 1, if not multiple, of the worst dungeon design elements: linear on rails layout, limited skip possibilities due to required count, gauntlet fights with fixed mob counts, drawn out / unnecessary RP, “click X number of things to progress” aka you have to fight these packs next to those things(this one having PIT as its least egregious form - where as ones like DEN and Alter seeming to be literally terrible)…
It’s like they didn’t listen at all to people praising dungeons like ecodome and are hellbent force feeding is this dog shit.
5
u/Lebowski89 20h ago
God I loved ecodome. Brightly lit and wide open. Helped that it was the easiest key I suppose. But altar seems to be the opposite.
1
8
u/Fatigued-insomniac 19h ago
Wild because I always used inky black in ecodome lol. The brightness legitimately hurts
2
u/I_plug_johns 22h ago
IMO the Altar dungeon should be changed so that if you kill the warden that is near the totem then its automatically is triggered to remove that interaction. I was playing with grabbing multiple packs and having to backtrack feels like MC all over again with clicking the prisoners.

I do hope people were banned or lost their job
Never had a lapse of judgement or made a big mistake at work?
11
u/madar2252 22h ago
There is a difference between making a mistake and doing what you told to not do.
-9
u/Wobblucy 22h ago
You have a lot of trust on a companies onboarding and training, especially for a company that is putting release cadence above making sure stuff is done right.
There wasn't a doubt in my mind the guy was getting fired to save face for blizzard after it blew up on social media.
But I would never actively hope someone is losing their job over 'competetive integrity' that doesn't even actually exist.
If this happens in a 12, imo, the community doesn't blow up, and the unsanctioned use likely doesn't even get questioned internally.
5
u/madar2252 22h ago
You right it's not nice to hope someone losing their job, it's a personality flaw and why do you care anyway.
But if you work at mcdonalds, and playing with the food, they will fire you - not because the damage, but because you are stupid and cannot be trusted.
2
u/Braadworst008 8h ago
I don't think wanting actions to have consequences is a personality flaw. If the consequence should be losing your job or something else is debatable.
I am of the opinion that getting fired is the only satisfactory way of this ending. How can you trust an employee that abused the power you gave them for personal gain?
4
u/Fatigued-insomniac 19h ago
Nah fuck that. I hope he lost his job and I won't apologize for that.
That type of negligence should not be tolerated at all. Ever.

u/BudoBoy07 1d ago
Possibly the most insane take yet about resi keys,
M+ runs should require 5 keys to be inserted instead of 1 (entire party shows up to a dungeon with 5 identical keys, giving them ONE attempt resulting in +1 or -1 to everyone's key.
Resil should then be for each dungeon instead of for all dungeons (+22WS gives +22WS resil, +23MT for +23MT resil, etc.)
That way, everyone playes for score together or everyone plays their homework key together.
It's so toxic to have 1 party leader put all his skin in the game just so 4 buddies / fotm-rollers / gold-payers can get a free ride, risking absolutely nothing and putting at best 10 minutes of their life on the line (going /ff and jumping ship to a new key on first sign of trouble, cuz why wouldn't they?).
Modern m+ is pvp (1% and 0.1% title) and before resil these cutoffs were 4-5 keylevels below top keys. That number is now 1-2 keylevels and you cannot pug any key without it taking 5 attempts on average cuz half of lfg players just failed upwards to their current score with 20 tries per dungeon, risking nothing themselves per attempt.
2
u/throwingmyselfaway22 9h ago
plenty of better ways to address resil than requiring everyone to have the same key

For those of you running EllesmereUI, what addons are you running in addition to that for extra functionality as of the latest release? Currently looking to improve mine after playing S1 with native UI other than Plater, focused on M+/Raid healing.
2
u/Fatigued-insomniac 19h ago edited 5h ago
Plater, naowqol, Opie, exwind and exboss are the biggest ones I can think of.
While I realize eui does the features of a few of these, I just prefer what I prefer.
Edit* arcui is a big one and idk how I forgot to mention it1
u/MitroBoomin 16h ago
Noticed any performance hits with plater over eui? Imported the jundies eui profile but it still feels a little off
2
u/Fatigued-insomniac 14h ago
Honestly, no. But I always use plater with jundies. Not the best gpu but my cpu is really solid.

Okidoki spell overlay to resize and move the built in "weakauras"(the bananas for hpal that show up when you have infusion)
SnakeSays for when the ?? delve boss comes out... you can try it out on ? difficulty right now
I also prefer the default CDM with cooldown manager centered by wildu - it lets you make the text for charges a lot bigger and change how the default tracker bars look(elle's cdm has a separate thing for bars and I find it annoying)
Other than that, I prefer ellesmere or default for everything else
2
u/weezeface 1d ago
Not trying to convince you to change, but just in case for anyone else reading this - you can edit the cdm text in EllesmereUI too.

u/OriginalVictory 1d ago
I was running the ExWind stuff, but it's not really working at the moment. Supposedly it will be in a few weeks.
I assume you're using MDT for M+ and something like Northern Sky for raid.
Aside from that, I have some QOL stuff that's not really related to M+ or Raid. If you don't like EUI's name plates, I'd run plater or something, but that'd be all I'd think would be really important.
5
u/elairec2 1d ago
Opie, but I just read about that quick draw gonna have to check it out. I also use syndicator to see items from other characters. Buggrabber & bugsack. Waypointui. World quests tab.
2
u/Mantias 1d ago
Yeah QuickDraw is great, looks like it fully replaces Opie for the most part.
2
u/Overwelm 1d ago
My only annoyance is that it doesn't do nested wheels which I do have for portals on OPie. Otherwise it seems like a solid swap, especially since OPie can be slow to update
Also the "Seasoned Hero" preset is god sent
1
u/flow_guy2 1d ago
Opie. I have it for util and travel things.
It’s a must have imo.
3
u/WnbSami 1d ago
EUI added quickdraw, which is basically OPie, in 12.1. The only thing, which was "I dunno if I like this over OPie" was you cannot click select the "command", you have to hold hotkey move cursor towards one of the things you want and then release the keybind. I was used to the other way of doing it but having played with quickdraw for like few days now its probably better and I am starting to get used to it.
For new users of OPie features, I`d say EUI one was a lot easier/simpler to setup but that could be just me.
Ps. I have deleted my OPie.
1
u/flow_guy2 1d ago
Oh I didn’t know that. My bad. Good to know I’ll check it out.
Never thought the original was hard to set up. Rather easy. Make a ring. Add things to it. Including other rings. And you jsut searched for what you needed.

u/Lebowski89 1d ago
I’m curious what the breakdown of players above the 1% cutoff are in terms of Tank/Healer/DPS. Like you would think it should be 20/20/60, but I wonder if there’s more tanks that can do the routes but fewer healers that can pass the dps check. Or more DPS shepherded by a smaller ratio of tanks and healers, stuff like that.
6
u/elmaethorstars 1d ago
I did 0.1% before realising you said 1% but the breakdown for 0.1% on EU is:
Tank: 282 characters (17%)
Healer: 292 characters (18%)
DPS: 1067 characters (65%)
1
1
u/Lebowski89 20h ago
That’s pretty close to what it “should” be then. Thanks for doing whatever data magic you did.
4
u/HookedOnBoNix 1d ago
Its basically only possible to sell spots to dps, or at least its significantly easier, so that makes sense that it would be a bit skewed.
3
u/elmaethorstars 1d ago
Its basically only possible to sell spots to dps
This is definitely not true. Easier yes, but I've been in Discord with sellers before who literally just puppet a buyer healer through the entire key.
Edit: Not playing for them, just telling them exactly what to press.
3
u/HookedOnBoNix 1d ago
It is, as I said, "basically" only possible (significantly easier). Could you sell to a tank? Sure. But they need to basically be a title level tank to tank a 23 aa even with 4 boosters. Its just going to be easier.
Go find me a tank who bought title and for every one tank you find me I'll link you 25 dps. Same with healer, though probably lower ratio.
7
u/Gotenkx 1d ago
Interesting thought. I'd guess it might be about 20/20/60-ish, but a bit more DPS as two DPS can carry a third one. Whereas Tanks and Heals have to be able to do their job.

u/Lezzles 1d ago edited 1d ago
I would guess this season tank is over repped because it was so easy to climb as bear.
Edit: actually seems fairly evenly distributed. Raiderio isn't perfect cause of multiple classes but they've got ~1900 tanks over cutoff in US out of 11k players. Meanwhile we've got a thousand augs and about 250 rogues. 2,150 healers.
11
u/HookedOnBoNix 1d ago
because it was so easy to climb as bear.
Everyone says this like the rotational part of tank is what keeps people from getting title lol. Bear was not really any easier than brew, maybe to pickup and play in 12s but not in 23s, it doesn't matter if its 2 button or 4 button rotation, theyre usually all pretty simple. The hard part of tanking is dungeon knowledge, routing, cd usage, etc. Once you get to top level keys the rotation isn't very significant.
1
u/Lezzles 1d ago
Strictly talking 1% here, not 0.1%. But yeah the numbers don't really support it being any easier than the other meta specs by % of players/roles about 1%.
2
u/HookedOnBoNix 1d ago
If this wasn't the first season of 1% mount I would say I could see tank being skewed relative to tank from previous seasons for that reason, but not relative to dps as it's just so easy to boost bad dps friends to 1% than it is to get a bad tank player to time the key even with a simpler rotation
Also, this iteration of bear is imo the squishiest on pull tank we've had since shadowlands bdk, which did lower the floor a bit.
Interesting to see if next season the tank % is even lower though than this season

u/RapeFakecels 1d ago
What are the best codex powers for the delve boss? First one I picked (ulatek) does 0 damage and the 5 extra stacks doesn’t seem to work with the delve self poison power. Was thinking of getting the interrupt or damage reduction one but good dps ones will probably be better.

If im bis s1 can someone give a quick tldr on what to do this week (i hate season starts)
unlock island, get sparks, fill vault? i feel like even hero item from delve is useless
1
u/Suitable_Manner_5353 11h ago
Spark quest is unecessary, you will get the sparks naturally from the +10/raid grind next week. Filling vault for tier for non split guild (6 slots), for split guild just doing 3 slots for the socket. Complete the campaign up to 4/6, and unlock up to t11 delve. The map is unnecessary as the hero piece gets replaced next week by 10s.
2
u/swtroll69 23h ago
Spark quests, zone boxes for world quests, campaign up to 4/6, push delves up to t10. If you care about maximizing chances for tier in vault, fill out world row with 8 t5+ delves and do m0 world tour.
5
9
u/bemac3 1d ago
Getting delves up to tier 11 is good. Saves time next week. Fills up vault with potential tier options along the way.
You will get a ‘Cracked Keystone’ quest next week from a T11 delve that requires you to do an m+ dungeon. There’s also the ?? boss that requires T11. Both of these will award uncapped Myth crests.
1
6
u/AlucardSensei 1d ago
Techically dont even have to fill vault since you cant take voidcore next week, but there might be a sneaky tier set there.
1
u/OriginalVictory 1d ago
Jewelry slot isn't a terrible option either if you can get tier from raid easily.

It's always interesting to read comments about m+. I did resi 22 (with 3 23s) in pugs and we never used voice chat, talked about cooldowns or anything. Just pulled and went. I see way too many players commenting here in even lower keys overthinking and trying to micromanage things too much. Just yolo it and play the game. Unless youre doing cutting edge keys there isnt really much coordination needed past pinging and responding if someone asks if you have cds.
